punch it in 01-02-2017, 09:12 AM If you really think Kirk single handedly lost the game yesterday you are nuts. He had constant pressure in his face, I'd place more of the blame for the loss on the OL than anything.
And oh yeah, the Giants D is pretty damn good for anyone who wasn't paying attention all year. It's definitely a D they could ride all the way to Houston.
He did have constant pressure in his face, but that is what your legs are for. Some of those sacks he took were horrendous. Snacks took about 4 steps right at him and I swear to God Kirk did not even see him. There were a few other times where I was thinking "dude run "! His awareness and his mobility were just pure shit yesterday. I know he is not a running quarterback but that was straight garbage yesterday.
InsanePianist21 01-02-2017, 09:19 AM I am pretty much leaning this way too. KC is not worth the money they are going to give him.
Scot working his magic though? I guess. Have not seen magic for the first couple years. Dude is firing blanks. There is really not a single player, coach, or front office guy that I consider magic right now.
That whole "there is a new attitude at Redskins Park " thing sounds nice but it is bullshit. This is the same mediocre team with the ability to switch gears and become piss poor at any moment that i have been watching for the last 20 something years.
I may be giving Scot too much credit, but I'd still continue to put my trust in him. He still has a better track record than anyone we've had in that position since Bobby, imo. Save the money at QB for now, and spend it on the lines.
punch it in 01-02-2017, 09:19 AM Punch this is a great post and really sums up how a lot of people must feel right now. I don't know that we ever saw anything "different" this year - like you said, we have always been a team that can play great football but at a moments notice turns into a shit team from top to bottom. We are still consistently over matched, and out-coached week in and week out.
I like Jay but i get so tired of hearing him say every week "we were out coached". That's on HIM to fix, and so far he doesn't seem to be able to do it.
Question on Cousins - hearing lots of grumblings this morning on message board and twitter and the like that say the Skins are going to franchise tag him again - what will then be his price for Franchise tag #2, and can the Redskins keep tagging Cousins instead of signing him long-term?
I think it is 24 and if they did it a third time it would be something outrageous that is not feasible. I mean we do have a ton of cap room so the tag for this year could be ok. We would still be able to fix the D - considering Scot doesn't take a shit on draft day again or go shopping for garbage in free agency.
If we go into next season with a better D, and all these weapons on O and Kirk craps the bed again than we have to just move on. Stats are really great and all, but you have to be able to shine, or even just manage, in big games or you are really worthless at the end of the day.

Well if you are using Vinny as a measuring stick than yes he is better. Lol. Beathard was the man. I would settle for someone with a third of his abilities.
I agree about the lines. It is what Scot himself preaches. It is what wins. Our interior on both lines is effing laughable.

At the end of the game in my drunken state, I was telling my buddies "get rid of DJax too, F*** it!" I was annoyed with his attitude, but on second thought he has every right to have that attitude...
htownskinfan 01-02-2017, 10:28 AM My opinion on Kirk didn't change today. He's a guy you can build around and win with. Pay him.
My opinion hasnt changed either.Kirk played today like I thought he would,he hasnt shown he can handle the pressure of big games and he shit the bed.The off line didnt help him,the run blocking was shit,but Kirk did himself no favors,he did not play well.I cant help but think Colt would have played better today against the pressure with his mobility.Kirk needs to move around in the pocket more and run occasionally,he has the legs,he's not Dan Marino back there.And that stupid pistol formation they run with Kirk,it never works because Kirk never runs with it.{well it never works for the rb,it occasionally works when they do let Kirk carry it}
Getting back to Colt.I do think he would have handled the pressure of the game and the Giants defense today.Do I think Colt is better then Kirk,no I dont.Do I want Colt to be the starter,no I dont.I'm just saying I think he would have been better today against the Giants, hell he couldnt have been worse.
We have no choice,we need to resign Kirk.Franchise qb's dont grow on trees.Just look at what Houston got with Osweiller. Is Kirk going to be worth the money? We dont know yet, would you say he was worth the 17 mil he made this year? As far as stats go yes, results in winning games, probably not,it's debatable.
But we have no choice,we have to resign him and hope next year he plays better under pressure, defense and playcalling improve,Gruden gets ahold of his clock management:mad: and then just maybe Kirk will live up to his contract.
skinsfaninok 01-02-2017, 11:48 AM Went to 3 games this year
- vs. Dallas - He stunk up the joint missed on 3 deep balls that would've been TD's, definitely Kirk cost us that one.
- vs. Green Bay - Fun one to be at, but he looked mediocre until about 4 minutes to go
- vs. Carolina - He was Mark Sanchez.
Can't suffer through this anymore. Let him walk. He couldn't get us 2 TD's that would've sent us to Seattle. Pathetic. Our D really stepped up and Kirk couldn't deliver. Hard to blame anyone else, even with Jay's usual T.O. snafu end of 1st half.
I really hope they let him walk, and put that money into the trenches.
20/24 mil? no freakin way. Unless they can get him for 14-15M which they can't. Done with this choke artist. Still better than RG3 ofc, but is constantly missing wide open receivers for would be TD's. You don't reward those kind of mistakes with a Rogers or Big Ben type contract. Let the Browns or someone else take him.
I'd rather go with Colt next year for 1-2M. Let McCloughhy work his magic and see what happens.
And I've Been to 2 of his games both on the road and he lit it up

Over reaction Monday bro. Calm down. No chance colt McCoy plays better yesterday. Folks around the league and former QBs, (favre, bradshaw, dilfer) etc have all said KC is a franchise QB. If we let him walk that could set us back a long time.
sdskinsfan2001 01-02-2017, 12:05 PM Sounds like this site will turn to absolute carnage if Cousins gets a 25 million per year long term contract OR they let him walk. There seems to be a legitimate 50/50 split on how Cousins is viewed here.
My feelings, are offer him 5 years/100 million, take it or leave it. Its still a lot of money, compared to other yearly numbers being thrown out there it still leaves some extra for other players. And that's more than he's making this year, but its not Aaron Rodgers money either, because he doesn't deserve that type money.
That interception to end the season was one of the dumbest passes I've ever seen. It was 1st and 10 with about a minute and a half left, and we still had 2 timeouts. What the fuck was he thinking throwing it over the middle like that. I thought that was getting picked as soon as he threw it. And its not his 1st time making dumb ass decisions like that. If he doesn't fix that shit, he isn't going to be worth my proposed 20 million a year either, but you have to risk it because the options out there aren't great, unless we're trying to get Deshaun Watson or something with our 1st pick, which would also be really risky.
I am a KC supporter and believe in his smarts, work ethic, and strong, accurate throwing. But I am deeply shaken by his inability to perform well under pressure. I think this is not only true in big games, but also in within games, meaning when we get into the red zone. Pressure makes some players (and all the great players) better. Kirk tightens up under pressure. So you can aggregate all his stats and decide to be impressed, but success in this league means succeeding in increasingly more high-pressure situations leading into and through the playoffs.
I love watching our team now on 3rd and 6 in the 2nd quarter of a game in the middle of the season against an average team. Kirk looks scary good completing a 20 yard pass to Crowder or Reed. But I am rapidly losing confidence in his ability to do that when we have to win against a Dallas or NYG. He doesn't have the killer instinct. He doesn't improvise under pressure. He crumbles.
Maybe he needs some killer-instinct guys around him to help rev up the energy level of the team. But seeing how badly he plays in must-win games is deeply troubling.
