A lot of assuming going on here.. How about Letting Cousins play out the year that will determine his value. If he wants to much we move on. if he plays average then give him average pay if he won't sign let somebody else overpay for him. question for all the great football minds out there..would anybody have traded cousins for bradford before season???

This pretty much sums up where I stand on Cousins at this particular point.

How about leadership, intangibles, durability, experience and growth within the offense. Is all that available in the free agent market?? I don't think so.

If Colt was our QB Sunday we don't win that game. He could not have thrown the ball 5 yards past the line in that wind.

Biggest issue with this philosophy is assuming Scot is going to spend 18 million on free agency for defense. He's been very adamant about building in the draft. You won't be spending 19 million on a few draft picks.

Kirk fits the offense, runs it efficiently to win. You are not going to have a rookie or Colt McCoy run your offense while you try to build the defense. Especially when you have a guy who is winning games now while the defense is poor at best.

You try to win games now in the NFL. There is no "rebuilding" anymore.

Also, I woukd like to add. Please stop referencing it as 19 million dollar contract. The contract doesn't matter. The only thing that does matter is how much cap percentage is used on the QB position on the Redskins roster. Scot most likely won't spend more then 12% of our cap on the QB, since that is the league avg.

Biggest issue with the defense is we have only spent a third of our cap on it. A third of that is on the Dline.

Scot will build through the draft. It's not coincidence they are not signing Phil Taylor or Pot Roast after workout today's and giving Loannidis 65% of the snaps against the Ravens. They want to see what they got.

This post is spot on. Some fans think that the money that we would save by dumping KC could be spent on defense. Well here's my question. How's that working for the Giants? How's that working for Jacksonville? How's that working for Miami? For the most part, free agency brings in individuals, it doesn't bring you a team.

The big flaw in thinking free agency can help you, is people assume good players make it to free agency. Every now and then they do, due to various strange circumstances. Norman and DeSean Jackson were both examples.

But that's not common. Olivier Vernon was the best DE to make it to free agency this year. He had 7.5 sacks last year. That's not a good player.

Free agency should never be viewed as part of the plan. Your plan has to be building through the draft. And if you get lucky in free agency and a player comes available, then keep your cap in a good place so that you can pounce on the opportunity.

You use it as a way to be opportunistic and build out depth, you can't use it to build a foundation.

Cousins isn't playing really bad right now but hes not playing lights out either.
And we do have a wining record.
A question some of you should ask yourself is do I want to spend next years #1 pick on a new QB or on that big defensive lineman that we need?
I have concerns about Cousins but I'll take that run stuffer in the first round.

You are right..All it takes to win Super Bowl is slightly above average QB(last year Peyton manning was not great) HOWEVER there D was lights out! At this point I would rather have a stout D and above average QB ..maybe a solid Run game. We have very good wr's,good O line, great TE,good special teams..what we need is up front Dline help and chasing another QB is not gonna get us that.

Here's a question, do you think kirk is going to improve as the season progresses like last year?

Im sceptical, I hope he is as I get my one and only chance to cheer the guys at Wembley and I'm praying we bring our A game against Dalton and AJ etc.

36 snaps total...not enough data to give a consistent picture, but he wasn't great

Yes - I think he will improve as the season goes on.

Great QB's struggle against the number one defense in the league.

We are 3 - 2 with the worst defense in the league. We are still on pace for 9 - 7 or 10 - 6.
