Hog1 02-21-2016, 10:27 AM Prepare for incoming attack............ MTK 02-21-2016, 11:02 AM How is there a chance? Nobody is taking on Griffin with a 16mil salary and why in the fuck would he structure his contract to facilitate a trade for us? Not when he could go out of the free market and determine his own destination? There is no chance. I said it was unlikely. But there is always a chance, maybe .00001 MTK 02-21-2016, 11:07 AM Ex-NFL agent: RG3 'a pawn' in Redskins' contract talks with Cousins | FOX Sports (http://www.foxsports.com/nfl/story/washington-redskins-kirk-cousins-robert-griffin-iii-a-pawn-021916) I will post this, for those who wondered why I think the way I do. I felt in the beginning, and still feel now, that they are going to keep RG3 just incase the situation with Cousins doesn't work out... Did you actually read this article? Specifically this part? "The agent’s not going to buy it. The agent's probably trying hard not to laugh." Nobody believes that Griffin has any chance of being here next season. 30gut 02-21-2016, 03:28 PM I said it was unlikely. But there is always a chance, maybe .00001All it takes is 1 team that doesn't want to wait in the Griffin free agency line and for Griffin to be willing to play. I don't think Griffin would refuse to restructure his contract if it gets him to a team that wants him rather then waiting. And presto you got at least a 7th round pick. Draft picks, even 7th rounders are valuable, especially when the alternative is bubkis. There is no pain for the FO to wait to release Griffin. DYoungJelly 02-21-2016, 07:12 PM There is no pain for the FO to wait to release Griffin. It's giving the second shooter on the grassy knoll and the production team who filmed the moon landing heartburn. Exactly. sdskinsfan2001 02-22-2016, 03:04 AM Cousins, Redskins still talking new deal as teammates stump for QB (http://mweb.cbssports.com/nfl/eye-on-football/25486164/cousins-redskins-still-talking-new-deal-teammates-want-qb-to-stay) A couple of key points to sum things up right now, one way or the other he's going to be the QB here next year, RGIII will not, and RELAX. There are people in charge that know what they're doing. Yep, he's our qb next year one way or another. Either guaranteed for 1 year, or 5 (give or take). Ideally he signs like a 5 year 80 million deal, but somehow after 1 good year, he'll probably get more. Lucky bastard, lol. Evilgrin 02-22-2016, 01:34 PM The front office isn't stupid anymore, if there is a small chance at a pick go for it. sandtrapjack 02-22-2016, 03:03 PM Franchise Tag for QBs almost works in the players favor, automatic 1 year guarantee of 20 million +. All leverage rests with ownership in these cases. One of two things happens here: 1. Contract extension gets done 2. Cousins gets tagged. If tagged, club and player have until July to get a contract extension done. If not signed by then, he plays under that tag for the 2016 season. What if he does not agree to an extension after the 2016 season? He can be tagged a second time and the cycle repeats itself. Forget about RG3 talk of keeping him around. That ship has (or will sail). Ownership has all the chips in these contract negotiations and there is no way Cousins is NOT playing QB for Washington unless he gets hit by a truck. Quote Aaron Rodgers R-E-L-A-X MTK 02-23-2016, 02:29 PM Boom Redskins president wishes RGIII well in the future. (In other words, thanks and goodbye) (https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/dc-sports-bog/wp/2016/02/23/redskins-president-wishes-rgiii-well-in-the-future-in-other-words-thanks-and-goodbye/?tid=a_inl) Redskins President Bruce Allen acknowledged the obvious Tuesday morning, saying that quarterback Robert Griffin III’s tenure in Washington is likely nearing its end, and that the former starter will attract the interest of several teams. “Well, no,” Allen said on San Diego’s “Dan Sileo Show,” when asked if he sees Griffin on the Redskins roster in 2016. “I see Robert getting an opportunity with another team. I think we’ve heard from some teams that are interested, and I think he’s going to have a choice of a couple teams that will let him excel in the future.” |
