I remember all the comments about how "Portis' Pockets Straight", back in the day. Guess it isn't true. I didn't like him his final few years here, but i sort of feel bad for him. He was a good football player but when you would hear him talk, it was evident he was not very intelligent. Very sad case really. He owes 500,000 to his own mother, and over 400,000 dollars in unpaid child support to four women. He made more than 42 million in his NFL career, but he obviously blew his money and made bad investments. I do sort of blame his handlers and all the people who were leeching off of him.
He has like no future really, he can't go into broadcasting or announcing, i wonder what he will do. Maybe the skins give him some kind of job here helping out so at least he can earn an income....
That Guy 01-23-2016, 02:25 AM he does radio and sideline reporting, and he has spots on csn too, it won't pay off $5m though.

I'm sorry, but I am not sure you can tell how "intelligent" a person is by the way he talks. Dude obviously made some bad decisions with his money, including trusting people he should not have, but that doesn't make him unintelligent. Naïve...yeah...
Definitely not the first athlete to have this problem.
Why does he have no future? I've seen him on NFL Network and other outlets doing broadcast work.

Just by saying that I can tell you're not very intelligent.
Of course you can tell that from the way someone speaks.
skinsfan69 01-23-2016, 01:55 PM I know a few things about CP and his gambling habits so I'm not surprised. I don't think CP is a dummy but he made some real bad decisions.

You have to remember that agent fees and taxes takes probably half. So now you're talking 21 million. Certainly a lot of money but when you have gambling issues, numerous babies and baby mom's to take care of, homes and car notes, insurance on all that, plus the life style...travel, jewelry. Then you add in a bad investment or two...that 21 million can go real quick.

sounds like a long list of poor choices and life decisions. If you have 21 million, make sure you don't spend more than 21 million (or whatever the number is). he had money, he should have gotten a good accountant and planned ahead. it's not like he didn't know NFL careers are short.

I just mean that he isn't going to make enough doing that to pay off all of his debts

The best thing he could probably do is attempt an NFL comeback, but i'm not sure how that would work because he sued the NFL in the concussion lawsuit. I think he would probably make a good backup RB, and he for sure was a beast in pass blocking, but i'm not sure at 34 would he have the work ethic to keep in shape and attend practice. He would not be babied on another team like he was here. But, i think if you sign him at veteran minimum he would not be any risk.
