Lauvao has also undergone 5 surgeries in 3 months...
Redskins' Shawn Lauvao recovering from five surgeries in three months - Washington Times (http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2016/jan/11/redskins-left-guard-shawn-lauvao-had-combined-five/)
It looks like the surgeries were to clean up various pre-existing issues. Who knows? He may come back strong.
Lauvao landed on injured reserve after Week 3 with a serious ankle injury, but he took advantage of the downtime to fix some lingering foot issues. He expects to start walking in the next week and should be ready for OTAs. He will be 100 percent recovered by the time training camp rolls around. Jan 12 - 10:56 AM

My biggest concern for Jay is that his default setting is to pass. A running game requires real commitment and patience. To me, Jay gives lip service to the run game but, in his heart of hearts, would prefer to pass for two yards than grind it out. Scot, on the other hand, strikes me as a down and dirty mudder. Eventually, I see this creating some tension.I agree about Jay's passing centric focus. And maybe it could cause some friction but I think any style of offense can win. So while I tend to agree that Scott is more of ground and pound type coach I still believe he capitulates to his HC and builds the team to suit. I think Scott can do both. Provide the weapons for a dynamic passing offense; while also building the type of OL+RB that when called upon can respond. I think any running game in Jay's offense is going to require a dominant OL; he's not gonna tinkering around with middling talent and be able to Shanahan their way into being a top running offense.
With that said, it is a passing league now and to try and win the way we did in the 80's is simply not feasible. At the same time, it is not a one-dimensional passing game either; if the run is not a viable threat at all, as happened Sunday, then we simply cannot compete with the big boys.Meh can't say I agree the run game wasn't viable...wasn't utilized maybe? Alf was 11/50 that's good for 4.5 a clip.
I really hope the off-season shows a commitment to getting down and dirty, to beating up the opposing team, and kicking them when they are down Me too...but I'm not holding my breath.
Just not yet sold that Jay is the guy to do that. Scot, yes. Jay maybe.Only time will tell.

Nothing wrong with being pass focused on offense. I actually prefer the commitment we did to spread the ball out past 6 weeks.
Would of been nice if CT stayed healthy the whole year. He really fit the offense the best going down the stretch. Oh well.

I really like Keenan Robinson.
I think he can really play in a scheme where he is protected up front, like in a 2-gap scheme. I'm gonna utter a name that is unpopular but Haslett's scheme was more ILB friendly. Joe's scheme doesn't leave him protected as often and then there is the question of how much injuries hurt his play last year. If we are gonna stay with a 1-gap style 34 then I wonder if imo our 2 best ILBs (Keenan and Compton) can play together in this scheme.
ILBs in this type of scheme tend to be more of the banger type then the run and chase type and if they're gonna improve the run defense the ILBs have to come to play.

As long as Griffin isn't cut he can still be traded? Is that right?
I hope we are shopping him at the owners meetings.
Even if its for a 7th round pick...we should control where he goes and get something back in return.

NO one would trade for him. They only way we have him under contract is with the 16 million guarantee. So, to trade him, the new team would have to take that contract and that would be the starting point for his negotiations with that team.
Anyone interested in him will wait until he is cut.

Anyone interested in him will wait until he is cut.Sure, no one will trade for him with the current $16mil price tag.
Can the 5th year option be altered to complete a trade?
If all 3 parties agree? Lets say X wants him and doesn't want to compete with other teams and is willing to send us a 7th to get Griffin and he wants to go?
