That fumble by Cousins was the turning point. We were marching down the filed and would have scored. It went downhill pretty fast after that.

What was most frustrating about yesterday was Joe Barry. He seems to be too bland of a DC for my taste. He literally did nothing to try and get a pass rush on AR, couldn't get pressure w/ 4 and he sent no blitzes. He called the game like he was defending Kellen Moore.

Also did they prepare at all for that hurry up? AR got us a few times with 12 men on the field. They were not prepared for that. Bottom line was Joe Barry was piss poor. After seeing him for an entire year, he's an average NFL DC.

I'd also say when they started pressuring KC, Gruden needed to try and protect better with his formations. He left KC in too many empty sets and GB took advantage of it.

Yeah that was a back breaker. I think that play was more on KC. He needed to do a better job feeling the pressure and either tried to step up and avoid that or just get rid of it.

It was a very RG3 type error.

I dont think Barry wanted to be this bland either. He has said that he wants to be more aggressive and pass rush but he has to be conservative to offset our secondary. Add in the pourous run defense up front and that limits him calling man coverage.

i think breeland and culliver are aggressive physical man corners. we just need more depth. blackmon came off the street late august and probably played the most snaps of any defensive player this year.

Yeah, I think it is pretty tough to judge Barry TOO harshly. As one commentator said, our defensive back-field was being held together with spit, scotch tape, and chicken wire.

I do believe that, as a unit, the defense needs to be faster and needs faster athletes - or athletes who play faster anyway. Speed kills and there really isn't much of it on our D.

Into the offseason, it looks like safety is still a top priority. Goldson and Compton are solid, smart players. However, we need someone on the inside - at all levels - that can range and attack. We just don't have that. I think the big plays against us were largely b/c of this lack of speed. If we didn't play perfectly, there was no one with the make-up speed to limit the harm of a blown coverage or blown assignment.

Given the talent level on our defense, I think Barry got about as much out of them as could be reasonably expected.

Still need a fearsome edge defender (maybe Smith grows into that), someone in the middle who can range sideline to sideline, and someone over the top to keep the lid on the offense. Few teams have all these guys, but we really don't have any of them. Right now, there is just no one on our D that scares anyone.

How to be better next year:
Better guard and center play
Better pass rush

Both these areas will improve internally when we get injured guys back. Then add a few draft picks up front on both sides and I think we'll be greatly improved there. I also see Alfmo leaving and us drafting another rb.

I agree 100%. What a joke. We ran Haslett out of town but I never saw him get outcoached like that.

35 points and 5 straight scoring drives to a team with zero weapons. ZERO. Didn't think they'd try a hurry-up offense? Thought they'd just sit back there and let us sack them all game??

We got badly outcoached yesterday, badly.

Barry tried to rush just 4 guys all day and we had 1 sack. I can't believe we only had 1 sack to begin with, it's what I've said all along about RK, man sometimes that guy just disappears and it seems to always be in the crunch time. Preston smith will be a monster, so that's a plus. The one guy that has turned heads all over the country though is jordan reed, I've had a bunch of friends and family text telling me he's like Megatron as a TE. Dude is damn near unstoppable. I saw faulk on Nfln after the game saying reed disappeared in the 2nd half... no it's called adjustments that GB did.
