DY plays all 4 special teams units and wants to be here. gruden's talks with hoffman indicated that hall is more important to him than goldson, so hall's probably back.

and yeah, you shouldn't waste money on an rb, especially with how bad our blocking was this year. 2nd round pick or later, or keep the guys we've got and see how it goes next year.

DY brings his lunch pail to work. He leads by example. He is what Joe Gibbs used to call "A Redskin". I want him back with us next season.

I have no problem with the RB coming in the draft. I would also have no problem with the Skins drafting Ezekial Elliott if he's there at #21. Other than Elliott, I'd probably pass on RB's until the middle rounds.

you can't cut djax. he's a big reason why j reed is open all day. we have a great passing game, we need to keep it (kirk, garcon, djax, reed, crowder) if at all possible.

I imagine the draft will focus on defense, since outside of a running back and a C/G, that's where we need some help. we're big in the market for a young nose tackle.

According to Rich Tandler........

dropping the following will save +/- $25-26 million in Cap space
Djax saves 6.75M
J Hatcher 4.23M
D Goldson 8.00M
P Riley 4.00M
A Roberts 3.00M

Goldson was a definite leader, BUT...he gave up some big plays, including the 1st Td against Green Bay. I know he was hurting late in the year, but he definitely looked a step slow to me.

Anyway, for my money, I'd part with those guys above.
Would definitely bring back DY.

Dropping Goldson would be a mistake without first exploring a pay reduction or restructure to make the cap hit more friendly. Still a solid player.

But I totally agree on the others. I for one am kind of tired of scraping by at MLB. I really want to see an athletic thumper in there. Partly because a stud MLB makes the team flat out better, and partly because I think a hard nosed tough as nails mentality at that spot is contagious and gives the rest of the team an edgy attitude and attacking mentality. I still want McC to go with his BPA, but it'd be fantastic if our first rounder ends up being MLB as BPA.

Stout DLine would be good too.

I know this is probably in the other forum, but honestly, is there anybody better than Goldson in free agency that wouldn't cost more than $8 million? I contend that while the dude missed on some plays, he also made some plays as well. He's not the best, but he's good enough until Scot M can draft that difference maker.

Yeah I'm not sure we'll need Goldson's cap space. Cousins contract and cutting Griffin will offset each other, cap wise. And if Hatcher retires like it seems, and once we cut Andre Roberts, I don't think we'll need Goldson to take a paycut.

Keep in mind this assumes McC sticks with his typical plan of not stepping big into free agency.

Maybe they rework Goldson slightly, but I think they'll look to keep him.

Gonna be a fun offseason, draft is so deep this year also. Hopefully we get a bunch of picks.

reportedly the cap will go to $155 million, $12 million higher than last year

At last report the Redskins had $10 million in space, this was based on what projected cap limit ?

Original post updated for small adjustments. The NFL salary cap was announced at 155.1M, We had tentatively assumed 153M. Also, the Redskins carried over 5.8M in cap space from 2015, it was previously estimated that they would carry over 7.0M.

The two changes net out to 0.9M more in cap space than the original post estimated.

Original post was updated to reflect Kirk Cousins receiving the non exclusive franchise tag, which carries a cap hit of $19.9M.

This move adds Cousins back to the roster, kicking a player out of the top 51.

I have the Redskins currently over the cap by ($1.6M). They'll need to make moves to free necessary cap space, the most obvious being releasing or trading Griffin. The team must be under the cap by 4pm eastern on March 9, per league rules.
