u would think when guys like Trent say "we have our QB" and others have said this, that fans would be happy esp after 20 yrs of having none.

Rite....hey - some fans just need to complain. It is what they are used to and for good reason I guess. Lets have KC walk. Maybe we can find a guy that will break all Kirks records and do it against winning teams without a whole lotta help. Hell - those guys come around all the time.

Question is do you tie up $20m next year or much less with a multi year deal?If I'm the GM?

Not even considering the franchise tag; doing a multi-year deal all the way.

All this talk about the QB when the D was hot garbage. Typical. It is the Cousins has arrived thread.

1st in completion percentage, 5th in rating, 8th in yards per attempt and 10th in passing yardage. I think he gets $20 mil on a long term deal with those numbers.

It could come close to that on a yearly avg but his cap hit would be much less for the first couple of years.

What I am admitting is there are other factors at play, other teammates at play, and that for you to blame Kirk for the loss is ridiculous. That is all.

Where did I ever say I blamed Kirk for the loss?:saywhat:
I never said that and I never thought that.I said Kirk didnt play well in the 2nd half, but I was not placing the blame on him for the loss.
But if Kirk"s contract demands are going to be among the top qb's in the league,{which remains to be seen, but very likely}then being able to overcome adverse conditions{like in Sunday's game}and win is something he should have on his resume don't you think? Tampa game was a great steppingstone, but Tampa's not that good a team.

No I'm not taking it personally,I just remember you taking up for Griff amid my concerns(which by the way all turned out to be prophetic)way back when and continued to do so all the way up to Kirk being named the starter.
As far as you saying you support whoevers in the lineup its as simple as that,I cannot understand or comprehend that reasoning.I'm all for supporting your team but when someone's playing poorly and your making excuses for them or disagreeing with other people about their poor play just because they are in the lineup makes no sense to me.
Yes I did exaggerate about Cousins being compared to Hoyer and I admitted that,as far as a history of over exaggeration,we will have to disagree about that too.

It's not just one game that has me concerned,it's his career as a whole.
Yes he has great strides this season.
Yes the whole team was off yesterday, but Cousins throws in the 2nd half we're some of his worst since I don't know when, and if not for that amazing catch by Reed he would have had a pick 6,and it would have been very interesting to see how he would have handled it if that would have happened.
Hopefully it was just 1st timer playoff pressure getting to him and he will learn from it and be a better qb.
I guess reading about his having never beaten a team with a winning record combined with what I thought was a mostly bad 2nd half yesterday made me post what I did.
I guess what I should have said is I have my concerns over paying Kirk a shitload of money for someone who's never beaten a winning team and his body of work IMO is not long enough to warrant signing him to what might be top 5 qb pay,but at this point we have no choice but to do that or slap the franchise tag on him.

Yes the whole team was off yesterday, BUT COUSINS THROWS WERE BLAH BLAH BLAH.
Dont try n backtrack now. That there is a fine line you're walking if you say you never blamed Cousins, never thought that even?!? Lol. Come on man.
Edit: i dont really care, but like Matty said - the defense got absolutely torched Sunday and we are talking about the QB?!? The QB who didnt have a terrible game but was a little bit off?!? You are completely questioning KC at this point and good for you and your opinion. This is America.
However, like I have said to others, thank God you are not involved with the decision making process of this team. Lol.

If I was involved with the decision-making this team would be a lot better off [emoji3]
It may have looked like from my post that I was blaming Kirk for the loss but that is not how I feel. I am not backtracking I never meant that he was the reason for the loss
I think my Brian Hoyer comment got you guys all in a hissy Yes I said it, was it an over exaggeration, yes it was. I admitted that, and I would like it stricken from the record.[emoji90]

Washington

–It certainly wasn’t a pretty day from Kirk Cousins (-4.7). His accuracy down the field was night and day from the quarterback we’ve seen the past few weeks. On passes targeted between 10-20 yards down the field, Cousins was only 2-of-10 passing for 36 yards. Green Bay forced check down after check down from Cousins and continually made the play. 17 of Cousins 29 completions came between the numbers and within 10 yards of the line of scrimmage.

KC did not have a good day.
The OLine did not have a good day.
The defense, as a whole, did not have a good day.

So ... a team - led by a QB with no starting play off experience, that had no run game, and had a questionable defense - lost to a coach and team that has won the SB, been a consistent play off team, and was led by last year's league MVP.

It happens.

Was not his sharpest of games by any means. But it was good enough for the win had the defense not played like a sieve. Couple that with a terrible attempt by Djax at getting the damn ball in the endzone and a missed extra point - and you have a loss. Those 5 points early would have changed some things. I also think those numbers were skewed by the fact that he was forced to go long alot and try to play catch up later in the game. The Pack obviously was not in the slightest bit afraid of our run game either. The bottom line is that with half of a better effort by our defense and run game Cousins played well enough for us to beat a very experienced playoff team.

As I have said consistently, even when doubting his long-term viability as a starter, KC is the guy next year. Based on his last 10 regular season games, he convinced me he is the guy for the next several years.

Over the year, KC has shown growth and improvement. I fully expect that he will do so again as we become regular playoff participants. It's a different game when moving from back-up to regular starter and, after some fits and starts, KC adapted just fine. Similarly, it's a different game in the Post Season where there are no gimme's, and KC will be learn that one as well.
