What does everyone think about Rice playing out his days as a 4th WR? Will this hurt his image?
I didn't like seeing Art Monk in a Jets uni. :vomit-smi But I guess Rice has already played for 3 teams so?

i don't care. sure, he is the greatest receiver of all time, but sometime it has to end. he should of retired after this season, but i hope he has a good year with the broncs.
He's without a doubt the greatest WR in the history of the game, and one of the top players regardless of position.
The fact that he should have hung it up already doesn't tarnish his accomplishments, it's just sad to see a guy who doesn't know when the game has passed him by.

I think he's thinking that he could end up in the starting line up. the only estabilished guy there is Rod Smith, Watts has proved nothing, shoot by week 4 he could be starting. Also Denver got alot of young recievers.
Don't forget about Lelie too, he's their #2.
At this point Rice is a #4, maybe borderline #3.

Oops I was thinking Lelie and wrote Watts. It'll be intresting to see how it pans out for sure, esp fantasy wise.

Maybe - just MAYBE - the value that Jerry Rice will bring to the Broncos is well beyond what he will do on the field during the season. Maybe, he will lead by example and show some of those young receivers what it takes to become the "greatest WR in the history of the NFL".
IF - and this is a big "if" - he can show one or more of these "kids" what is necessary on their part to become one of the all-time greats at that position and IF those "kids" assimilate all that and decide to work to try to become one of the all-time greats at the position, then Jerry Rice will have been a bargain at whatever the price of his contract for 2005/6 might be.
On the other hand, if he is only there to play football and "produce on the field", then Denver probably paid more for him than he's worth at this late stage of his career...
Oops I was thinking Lelie and wrote Watts. It'll be intresting to see how it pans out for sure, esp fantasy wise.
Lelie is coming off a 1000 yard season and he averaged over 20 yards per catch, I don't think Rice is much of a threat to his job.

I think Rice is doing it just because he wants to have fun and hopefully to share what made him so great with the other wide receivers. I must say...I am a Redskins fan through and through, but I did enjoy watching him play. Both him and Montana..sometimes I just had to take a step back and say, "how did he do that?"
