In the end ST has to be the guy to make the call. Doesn't have much to do with leadership if you ask me.

He can ask ST til he's blue in the face to call Gibbs, if ST says nah, I'm not going to call him does that make CP a poor leader??

I don't see much of a connection there between leadership and getting a guy to make a phone call.

This situation is all about Taylor, not Portis.
True, it is all about Taylor. But a true leader is able to convince people that his way is the right way, or at least demands enough respect for someone who disagrees to at least give it a shot. Look at Gibbs. Of course there are alway some people that you just can't get through to without taking extreme measures....and unfortunately it appears that Sean is one of those people.

As much as he and everyone else talks about character, Gibbs has had guys like this before. Look at Riggins, Manley, I'm sure there were a couple more....they had their own issues and were a pain in the ass to deal with, but they had the talent and ability on the field to make it worthwhile. I'm not saying I agree with it, but as long as the guy shows up to mandatory camp in shape and continues to perform and improve in games, I could care less what he does the remainder of the time.

So by that argument, are you saying that Gibbs is not a true leader?

I'm not being a jackass, I just like people to think about their logic. :)

Like I said in my post before, you can be a good or even great leader and still not have EVERYONE be on board. Also, since we have no facts to go on about Taylor (besides that it's not about contractual obligations), we are all assuming away and it could turn out to be something very forgivable.

Not I am not. I followed it by saying that there are some people that just can't be gotten through to and have to be handled differently. It sucks, but it's a fact of life.

on thursday nfl total access will have a feature about carlos rogers and jason campbell. cp is also becoming a vocal leader, but you can't blame him for trying not hard enough to get st back to camp. he's done all he can, and he can only go so far. i can't wait to watch total access tonight to see if they talk about st.

And with the line that we have, I wouldn't think it was out of the question for him to get 1600-1700+. He definitely has the amount of attempts required. If we are going to have a rusher going for 1600-1700 yards then we should have one 1000 yard receiver and one around 900. A defense that is well rested and so on. I hope your right.

Brett Favre can't get Walker to report to mini-camp, but he's probably one of the best team leaders in the league....so it's unfair to say Portis isn't a good leader because ST is a headcase.

think about your own logic.:pi_lightb

if taylor was "staying away" for a reason or reasons that are forgivable , he would have returned gibbs' calls.
the reason he is not returning gibbs' calls is becouse he wants a new contract and he is to embarrased to talk to gibbs man to man about it.
