Who is Kirk Cousins?

Yes 27. Yes four years. But basically a rookie as far as playing time. If he truly had 4 years under his belt and was still making these mistakes the experiment would be over - imo these things can still be chalked up as rookie mistakes. Not to mention he has 7 starts total where he has been taking first team reps , etc. I like the improvements im seeing at this stage of his career (in dog years).

Unique situation for Kirk because he sat behind someone who the franchise had huge expectations for.

Looking at the numbers, Kirk has played the OVERALL toughest defenses in the NFL combined between all 31 NFL teams according to pro insider. He's down from 4.5 INT/Throw to 3.0. League average is a bit below that.

We have a QB right now that is playing in a real WCO and project numbers...

4100 yards, 23 TD 18INT %68 completion rate.

Compare that to other young QB playing their first season. There is no way you don't offer the guy a McCown or Fitz type deal and build around the team more.

Was listening to Cooley's film breakdown yesterday. There wwere a couple of throws that cousins made that I thought were terrible throws that Cooley said he thought the same thing till he watched the film. There was one to Crowder where he had to reach back and looked like he almost broke his leg reaching back for it.I thought that was a bad throw but Cooley said in his film breakdown that was a great throw, that it was placed where it needed to be and it kept Crowder from being laid out by the defender.Who knows? I know Cooley has a lot more football x's and o's knowledge then I do

He did. He took the harder big boy throw between the zone of 4 defenders a fit it in for a first down.

What do we make of the pretty strong under-current of Twitter football "experts" who spend their time pointing out for example how Cousins played pretty typically average last Sunday?

The types who seemingly have some clue about football and who watch the all-22s and show how a good play could have been better with a better throw and so forth?

They seem to want to continue the narrative that Cousins isn't very good, and they may be right, but at the same time I can't help but think if we all-22'd Aaron Rodgers we could do the same thing...nit pick even good plays and how they could ave been better.

Cousins is getting better all the time. He's cutting down on the crucial mistakes. We know he can lead a late comeback to win a game. He's proven that - which is a very big deal, IMO.

I wouldn't try to rank him at this point but I will say that I believe he hasn't nearly reached his full potential. As he gains more game experience and continues to progress, I think that most of us will begin to regard him as much more valuable than we consider him to be at the present time.

He got a key weapon back (Reed) against TB and he used that weapon well. I'm eager to see what he's able to do with with a full complement of receivers: DJax, Reed, Garcon, etc. It could be very exciting.

This. There are alot of smart people in the NFL that are high on kirk. I would imagine they know alot more about his potential than some guys on this board.

I'm kind of expecting a loss, and all I ask is that they don't take the Pats to the last minute and break our hearts. I've had enough stress from this damn team all season, for better or worse. :)

If you're going to get blown out, get blown out. If you're going to win, make sure we know for damn sure before the last 3-4 minutes. My heart can't handle any more comebacks, Skins or otherwise.

I want at least two or three games of consistent good play - meaning: 1) No bonehead INT's; and 2) consistent accuracy with his passes.

I do too, so I obviously think what you want to see from him is fair. That's why he's not a finished product.

Would you say he's getting there if he can produce two or three good games in a row with one or two poor games in between the good ones?

I need to see consistent play for multiple games AND I also need to see him perform on the road. Something he has yet to do with the exception being the one game in CLE in 2012.

Not really. To me, that's his current MO.
