The more I read, the more I think that Bowen is going to get the ax.

I don't think this is a move that has anything to do with Taylor, sounds more like a move for depth and to possibly replace Bowen as someone pointed out.

I agree. I think Bowen will be given his walking papers. Sean will be in camp. I think media is making more out of that situation than is warranted. Yes he should be here working out with the guys but those sessions are called voluntary for a reason. He will be here. Of that you can bank on.

I think that Bowen will be on the outs. I'm a big Sean Taylor and everynbody knows that but hey the guy will be in camp. He knows that we will be the captain of this defense one day. Ryan Clark is not going anyway for the way that he played last year for us. Prioleau and Hall just got here so the rest is history.

Bowen will make $1M this year in base salary and $2M next year, that's high for a backup safety. Luckily his SB was reasonable, $1.6M spread over 4 years. He definitely looks like a possible camp cut.

Though this gives us considerable depth at safety, we are thinner at CB. I wonder if Williams sees any of these guys as possible converts?

we only carried 4 active cb's on the roster last year... smoot , springs, harris and jimoh

wilds and rufus came in when smoot and springs were injured, they came from the practice spuad. so we might carry 5 safties

I don't see Bowen getting cut, he played really well before the injury and he's a good locker room/team guy.

It looks like a bargaining chip move with Taylor, sadly.

How about this: He wasn't signed to replace anyone specific, but to overstock the position to make for a good competition in camp. Let the best men win!

Before his injury, Bowen was on pace for a break-out season, so I don't know if they would cut him, unless it's purely a salary cap management decision...

I could see it also as a possible "insurance policy" for Taylor, since it seems that no one knows what he's really up to....aside from his personal spokesman Clinton Portis that is....
