He was 24-27 on FGs last year, hope the Redskins didn't go out of their way to find trouble.
Accurate on the kicks he attempted. The trouble is 24-27 fails to measures the kicks he never attempted because Jay knew he didn't have the leg. Were there 3-5 FGs in the 50+ range that Jay just didn't try? It's hard to know, but I'd rather have a K that can get touchbacks and make my 2-minute offense's target the 37 yard line instead of the 30.

I would agree here. Not sure they should panic and mess around with an inexperienced kicker with a stronger leg. Hope it works out.

In today's NFL, KOs are a critical part of the game. You have to be able to kick out of end zone

Important statistical perspective:
Since the start of the 2012 season, Forbath had made 87.1 percent of his kicks (60-69), ranking him 19th in the NFL over that period. He's 26th in accuracy since the 2013 season (84.3 percent), according to ESPN Stats & Information.
So 87% over the last 3 years is only good for 19th in the NFL. These days kickers are way more accurate than they ever were before. Don't go thinking they necessarily threw the baby out with the bathwater here, Kai's supposed strength as a FG kicker isn't really a strength at all.
Looks knee jerk on the surface but it's really not. He didn't have a strong camp and obviously they've been looking to replace him for a while now.

I don't think you can take those statistics at face value. A kicker whose home field is a dome, outdoor turf, or grass in a good weather city has an advantage.

field position matters, and our coverage teams are terrible, so we really need the other guys starting on the 20 every time, it'd eliminate half of our coverage problems.

I thought Amerson should have been the fall guy long before Kai, but it's good if the message is sent that the status quo of mediocrity is not good enough around here anymore.

Personally I thought Hocker had a better camp last training camp and the team should have went with him. After all, they did draft him. Now the guy who Hocker beat out at the Saints is now hired to replaced Forbath. Think about that Mickey Mouse shit.
The Saints were working out kickers last week so let's not anoint Hocker just yet. Plus the competition was close between them.
