I'm glad Campbell looks good, but I'm not exactly following why Brunell sucking vindicates that pick. We didn't draft Campbell to be our number 2, but to compete for number 1. It's Ramsey we should be comparing him to. You don't trade 3 picks to draft a backup qb.
Also, I've made this point before, but my attitude was in Gibbs we trust with Brunell, when he pursued the washup for inscrutable reasons. After that debacle it has shifted to in Gibbs we hope.
That being said, I really hope Campbell is good.

Maybe I missed it, but I didn't even see any clips of Brunell. Just Ramsey and Campbell.
Campbell looks like Brunell circa 1996
It's still early, QBs are going to look rusty this time of year. I know Brunell-bashing is quite popular, but I'm actually rooting for the guy to come back strong, especially if we need him should Ramsey go down.
It's also way too early to start forming opinions on Campbell. I'll wait to see how he looks when the bullets are live.
Good man Matty, I thought I was alone in pulling for Brunell to bounce back, he has been a solid pro his entire career and I'm not gonna give up on him because of one bad year.

I don't have any hate now for Brunell. He stunk it up and I'm sad we spent SO much money on him. I'd love him to come back strong, but if Ramsey AND Campbell go down. I know he SHOULD be #2, but I think Campbell should get his reps in game time too.

I cant get the clips to show here at work. getting general erros even though i ahve installed and uninstalled real player a few times.. but i am glad campbell and ramsey look good coach gibbs likes to have a starter in waiting at QB that's why he went and got Brunnell to start with.

One bad year with an offense around him that certainly didn't help the issue any.
I also think his hammy after the 1st Giants game bothered him more than he let on.

Not only that, we HAD to have some kind of scapegoat! :)
I think it's time to start watching the highlight films again. Those always get me pumped. Anyone who wants them just PM me.

Watching those films really makes me miss having Coles. I LOVE the way the guy plays. My favorite play he made all year was that first down catch he made where Lito Shepard or someone knocks the hell out of him and he stands up and dances halfway down the field with the first down sign. Classic moments.

ok. if Brunell gets into a game next year and blows it (say, against ....Dallas) for us like he did on several occasions last year, EVERYONE on this forum will be calling for his nuts on a platter and screeching for him to be replaced and the "hoping for a bounceback year" will be a distant, off-season memory. I still have echoes of all the Redskins fans hollering in my ears last year at Hollywood Billiards, crying for the posse to take Marky to the scaffold after a couple of fumbles, errant off target passes and a few bad picks :Flush: And finally, how does anyone here KNOW that Campbell was drafted to compete for the starting job?? He was drafted to be a quarterback for the Redskins, period. Everyone is screaming about trading draft picks, but next year's cap numbers aren't going to allow us to draft and sign #1 type guys and be able to pay them. There is some long term thinking going on here and when all is said and done, the franchise will be better off for it.
