When did the Dolphins become the 85 Bears? I expect a close game, I don't think the Dolphins are nearly as good as some seem to think and the Skins aren't nearly as bad as people think.
For a team that's been 8-8 the last 2 years, you'd think they were 1 game away from the Superbowl..

YO....
I was expecting to hear some rebuttal like that from the MC guys.

I'm not sure how the skins will do this season but I bet Omar will be shocked at the result. I see skins winning this game, I really do.
Doesn't mean we won't go 6-10 or worse just think the team will be jacked up and ready for this one, especially with all the disrespect locally and nationally.

C'mon, man! Show a little optimism while we still can!
Sacks last year: Many of them were caused by RGIII's inability to operate in the pocket.
OL Not Improved: That may take some time, but Moses looks improved and Scherff is a keeper, so it should get better in time.
Vanilla Offense: Preseason is all about evaluating players, thus the vanilla offense. The major difference in our offense during the regular season will be seeing our big-time playmakers operate. All Kirk needs to do is get the ball into the hands of his playmakers on target and on time.
Yes off line WILL get better but I don't see it happening in this game. Plus we don't have a good tight end to help the running game and I hope our coach is smart enough not to tip the defense off on what we are going to do with our tight ends.
I do not think we can win this game straight up, we need a gimmick, and that would be Kirk (or Colt)running the pistol

Hello. I have enjoyed browsing your forum.
Omar isn't for everyone. A large percentage of Dolphins fans do not care for him. He doesn't have a filter. He just speaks his mind.
I think every fan is optimistic going into the first game of the season.
Some possible misconceptions:
Miami actually runs the ball pretty well. Lamar Miller had 1100 yards at 5.1 per carry last year and he looks even stronger this season.
Our O-line was pretty bad last year. Brandon Albert was out and players played out of position all season. He is a pro bowl player that is back. Mike Pouncey at C is also a pro bowl player. James at RT has been solid. The weak point is a rookie at RG. Fans do not expect quite the mess we had last season.
Miami is stacked at WR. They had to keep 6 WRs so no one got poached. Devante Parker is a big kid with a huge catch radius and is expected to be a red zone threat. Stills is a speedster. Jarvis Landry is one of the top slot guys in the league. Mathews is very solid. Jennings can still run excellent routes. Cameron is a pro bowl TE who is great if he is healthy (concussion issues). Dion Sims is an excellent blocker.
Tannehill is going into his second year with this offense. He looks a lot more comfortable. In preseason he posted a 121 QB rating with 0 interceptions completing over 80% of his passes.
The starting Defense allowed 3 points in all of preseason. Wake lined up next to Suh and it wasn't pretty. It looked like they were up against high school players.
Our biggest weakness is at LB where we have inexperience. The safeties and CBs are talented. Depth is a concern all across the team. If we lose a player or two at certain positions, the season is over for us.
I can't speak intelligently about your team. All I can go by is the preseason games I watched on Game Pass.
I hope you guys enjoy the season.

Any given Sunday. I failed to mention that we have rookies at kicker and punter. Special teams disaster?

-Will the staff find a way to run the ball effectively?
o will the TE blocking be adequate
o if the TE blocking isn't adequate will their be an adjustment in the run game?
o will the staff stick with the run if its not working early?
-Which Kirk do we get?
o With balanced playcalling will Kirk be able to be a productive passer without the turnovers?
o With pass heavy playcalling can Kirk carry the offense without turnovers?
-Will the rightside of the OL be liability, adequate or a strength?
Defensively what will Barry's scheme even look like?
-How will the secondary perform?
-Will Hall be ready to play?
-Which Dash do we get?
-Which Amerson do we get?
-Who will be the opposite rush linebacker across from Kerrigan and can they bring pressure? (Please let it be Jeffcoat in pass rush situations)
-Can our DL and rush package look as good on the field as they do on paper?
-Will the return units finally give us decent field position with the addition of Crowder?

I have two main concerns going into the game - and they are nothing new:
1. Wake/Suh v. Moses/Scherf - I am happy these Moses and Scherf look like future building blocks. At the same time, Wake/Suh is not trial by fire - it's trial by molten lava. They will need help in both the run and pass game just to maintain.
2. Our Def. backfield - They did not show good communication during the preseason and haven't really played together much. Miami's passing game isn't particularly scary but it doesn't have to be.
IF (and they are huge ifs) Moses/Scherf can perform competently against Wake/Suh such that the Skins don't have to consistently devote someone as help and the DB's don't give up any 40 yard "gimme's," we have a decent shot at winning.
Other issues that could affect the game:
Has JG improved as game manager? I hope so, but will wait and see. In his first year, he was trying to do wayyyy too much and his management of the team on game day suffered. With a QB coach and more authority devolving on McVay, hopefully Gruden will focus on being the HEAD coach as opposed to a glorified OC.
Will the "new and improved" front seven relieve some of the pressure on the DB's? I think the preseason demonstrated that we can stuff the run. Question is, can we get to the QB with 4 guys? Not sure, but, if so, that is a huge, huge plus for the D.
