So trying to have an RG3/Social Media Drama-free thread and talk about football (ain't that crazy?) Any thoughts on what you'll be looking for in today's game in terms of depth and back up.

As always, I hope we have no injuries. I'm looking at o-line, d-line, and secondary depth in this game. Also how McCoy does in a whole game with the scrubs.

Any thoughts on what you'll be looking for in today's game in terms of depth and back up.Only a handful of guys I'm interested in this game:

o OL Ty Nsekhe they already cut Willie Smith and Nsekhe has looked good, maybe he makes the squad as a back-up OT.

o This probably won't happen but I would like to see Moses get some snaps at LT and Scherff to get some snaps at RT

o The battle between of the ILBs Will Compton, Plummer and Martel Spaight.
Plummer and Spaight both looked good to me and Compton due to injury had limited snaps but he's made the squad last year

o Houston Bates has shown well to my eyes from earlier on, I liked his measurable/physical skillset and the word was they were moving him to ILB but due to circumstances he got a lot of work at OLB and looked good

o Jeffcoat imo is a lock

o I want to see the TEs block Hamm, Carrier I would like someone to emerge that can block because having Compton play TE just won't work long term he limits the offense too much because he's a give away that we're running when he's in the game

o Not sure which RBs are going to be up for this game but I expect our OL to maul the Jags and look for the backs to have good carries

o Want to see Amerson get a LOT of work.

o Want to see Jeron Johnson make more of an impact, be more active

o I want to see Kysheon Jarrett continue to step up

o For me Trenton Robinson made the team already and I like Akeem Davis too but someones got to go:
Dashon Goldson, Duke Ihenacho, Jeron Johnson, Kysheon Jarret, Trenton Robinson, Akeem Davis

I think the safety play has been shakey so far. Would you agree? I think Goldson and especially Jeron Johnson have dissappointing so far in their short tenure.

To me, Trenton Robinson and Duke have played the best of the group, Jarret has been really good as a rookie...

But with S its hard to assess one way or another if they're not involved in the play. So my gripe is more about being active...being around the ball then anything else. Dash did miss a tackle vs the Steve Smith but that's one play, I'm not going to go overboard about it.

I'm with you though if I had to pick starting S from what I've seen I would do Duke and Trent.

No injuries. Please. What happens if, heaven forbid, Colt gets hurt?

Honestly, I expected Jeron Johnson to take that SS position easily but Duke HAS been a nice surprise thus far.

I thought with the off season additions the secondary was going to be much improved, but so far that isn't the case. I am not even that thrilled with Culliver. Knowing he has character issues seeing him commit a few stupid penalties in the first two games then getting tossed for fighting against the Ravens, makes
me think he really needs to wise up.

The problem is that we didnt get the right guy for what the defense is trying to do. Culliver is not a zone guy, he is a man to man guy. We tend to do zone in our secondary. This is like the Eagles signing the CB from the Raiders years ago as a FA (forgetting his name). He was considered the top man to man guy available in FA (not best period just best one on the market at that time) but they put him in a zone where he was pretty bad.

Its the same with the Hatcher signing last year. He is not a read and react player. He is a one gap player. Read and react he is below average imo. One gap, he is pretty good at it. We signed him and put him in a read and react defense and his performance didnt equal the money we were paying him. I was really hoping we would get away from signing stats and sign players that were system guys.
