Coming in the middle here ... but, was at the game. Came away feeling like neither Jay nor RGIII is close to what I had hoped they would be.

The more I thought about that, the deeper and more depressed I got.

I cant wait till they get out of fed ex. that spot looked depressing on tv...zero energy. I feel terrible you were there to witness it...It looked absolutely horrible on tv.

People here at working are just laughing at the Skins. Litterally one guy saw me enter the building and he just started laughing...uncontrollably.

"You play to win the game"

Herm Edwards

Rather be 2-0 with lots of work to do than 0-2 with lots of work to do. And I want our backups to be better than our opponents we will need a lot of them at some point.

nope, worst case we are 1-1, this was a throw away game where coaches should have been looking at our players and what they can do. I go back to the decision not to try for an end game field goal as partial proof that at least in one instance that was not their intent.

i want to revisit the last play of the first half.

First, remove all throwable objects within 3 feet of you.

Then, pull the play up in your head. Lets all pause and remember.

Now sit in disbelief.

Reflect on our disaster at QB

Who is satisfied?

Personally I just don't think he can be properly evaluated when the OL was such a major problem.

Even on quick drops he was getting hit.

I agree, but at some point shouldn't he be making his pre-snap reads and making adjustments at the line? I don't think he grasps that part of the game yet. The o-line was horrible, but RG3 could've made some adjustments at the line and changed the play or find his hot read.

While I agree that he can't be judged on last nights performance, he needs to show some more progress in terms of reading the defense prior to the snap. I can't remember the last time I saw RG3 audible out of a play.

Yeah, he wasn't going to get the 1st down running either. I like looking down the field first for a big play, then taking the shorter route, running wasn't necessarily a good option. But you need to have some time in protection to actually take a shot down field. Didn't get much of that last night.

assuming the play call is designed for a long pass play ... 5 step drop w pass pro knowing the ball will not come out right away.

if the play is not designed to give RG3 more than 3 seconds .. he cant be looking to make the big play.

He has to play within the system and what the other 10 guys on the field are expecting. Problem is he either doesnt understand the concepts or he just wants to play it his way.

on 3 step drops, we have consistently been told the QB is to plant his foot on step 3 and get rid of the ball quickly. I feel somewhat bad for RG3 last night bc he just hesitated a second after his 3rd step and then he would get hit.

on some plays his footwork was so bad you couldnt tell if he was doing a 3 step or a 1 step then shuffle.

RG3 cant look big play if the play call is a quick play. period.

A good breakdown on all the hits on RGIII. Some of these can be avoided by sliding in pocket and changing protection scheme at line.

Was at the game last night so I want to watch the TC feed. But here quick thoughts...

Plusses:

-Its only preseason *ducks head*

-RBs looked good from RB1 to RB4

-2nd team offense looked good. 2nd team OL actually had more playing experience then 1st unit. 2nd unit had Compton at LT vs Smith and Moses staying at RT.

-2nd-3rd team QBs looked good

-2nd-3rd team playcalling was good

-Back-up TEs made some plays in the passing game

Defense:

-First unit defense was better then last week

-Amerson was active and in position

-Dash, Duke were more active

This thread has quickly turned into Griffenfest! lol

I have not seen either game this year, but results and comments here are what I expected. This is preseason and most lose sight of trying young players out and that are most likely not ready yet. So much impatience. Give them growing pain xperience now. Not week 1.
RG3 continuing to show poorly despite all the excuses is disappointing. The 4th year player needs to show something more than he has. Time to bust out of his slump. How long has it been since he has played well consistently over a period of time? Three years ago? The time is now for him to show something. The RG3 apologists need to stop making excuses for him.
I would love for him to earn his his starting position. Please do not gift it to him while he is playing poorly.

Very few coaches (good coaches) will fault a playmaking QB for trying to make a play. Even Jay himself has said as much in the past. However you can't fumble period. I don't grade Griffin down for scrambling and trying to make a bigger play then the checkdown. If you think about the circumstances I knew he was going to try to make a play to extend the drive. But you gotta hold on to the ball.
