Love that SM stated early on we would try to take care of our own ......and doing it. He is everything you want today.

Sounds like a good contract based on how others are being paid and the salary cap

$11.5M per year, $16M of it coming in form of signing bonus

No word on total guaranteed money, which is the real important piece

I can live with this. Much better than Orakpo wanting 13mil/year. Glad we've got him locked up long term.

Yeah it's a matter of durability and consistency. As a matter of principle you gotta give your big money to the guys who are available every week and who make a consistent impact for you. Orakpo tore too many pecs and was too up and down with his game. Kerrigan is a guy you can count on for sure.

Based on what? Justin Houston is getting $16.8M per year, Clay Matthews is getting $13.2M per year, and now Kerrigan is the 3rd highest paid OLB at $11.5M.

$14M would have put him in front of Clay, I don't think you can say he's had that kind of impact.

Why not? I think they're close, and Kerrigan doesn't miss games. 13-14 a year would not have been too much IMO.

Anyway, very happy he was resigned. Well deserved.

Got to meet Kerrigan several weeks ago out at a golf tournament at Trump National. He was had some kind of sleeve on his leg. I'm 6'2 and 220 and he made me feel like a shrimp. Didn't realize how freakin big he is. Super nice guy as well.

For his career in four seasons, Houston has 48.5 sacks and seven forced fumbles along with 234 tackles and one interception.

Kerrigan, in his four-year career has 38 sacks along with 247 tackles and two interceptions for two touchdowns. Kerrigan has 15 forced fumbles in his career, including five last year.


Kerrigan is better than Houston in every major statistical category besides sacks, where Houston has a sizable gap of 48.5 to 38, with much of that difference coming last year.
