Flyer97 08-24-2015, 10:26 PM For real, people seem to forget Kirk falling apart last year.
I think the plan should be to keep Kirk until he falls apart and let McCoy finish the season.
Michigan State QBs are good backups, nothing more, nothing less. Only good Big Ten QBs in the NFL for the past 15-20 years are Brees and Brady.
44Deezel 08-24-2015, 11:27 PM Personally, like I have stated before, I don't think we should even entertain acquiring a top QB before we rebuild the line. After Trent goes, we have a bunch of scrubs to deal with. I would rebuild the line next season then draft a QB in 2017. We need new scouting dept folks.
Hopefully they can draft a QB who doesn't call the wrong protections all the time and has some semblance of pre-snap recognition. Otherwise, it doesn't matter who's blocking.
44Deezel 08-24-2015, 11:31 PM The offensive line is a lot better than what you are giving credit for. Kirk had 8 sacks in 6 games last year as opposed to 33 in 7 games by Robert. The OL is fine. Is it the best? Absolutely not, but it's enough to make a 6th round RB look like a star the past 3 years. Also, our line is rated better than the Patriots as well.
Luck's line sucks worse, Rogers and Big Ben have played with crappy Lines. It's a tired and pathetic excuse. RG3 gets sacked, because he can't recognize Defenses and has zero pocket presence. KC and Colt are hardly pro-bowlers and they get sacked way less behind the same Offensive Linemen.
44Deezel 08-24-2015, 11:34 PM kurt warner also got hit like 4 million times while playing, so i'm not sure he's the best guy to ask about that.
And he has no idea what they're running and who's responsible for what.
DYoungJelly 08-24-2015, 11:44 PM Cooley's more thorough film breakdown of the Detroit game: (It's labeled as such on Aug 24)
Audio Vault | ESPN 980 (http://www.espn980.com/audio-vault/)
Cooley says he knows the offense and knows what he is talking about. I know, I know, most analysts say the same thing. It's one thing to read a break down by a writer at the Washington Post or a part time soccer analyst on bleacher report. It's another to listen to someone break down the mistakes who played in the same offense he is analyzing.
FYI, he does fault Scherff for poor play. The jist of the break down is that Grif didn't do anything that even a mediocre QB should do to mask the errors of the line.
He makes a big deal out of the one instance that Scherff and Smith were beaten each and they were able to keep the defender in front of them. This, he argues gives RG3 an opportunity to side step and hit a check down or throw it in the dirt at somebody.
DYoungJelly 08-24-2015, 11:56 PM Moses and Scherff haven't taken many NFL snaps and certainly haven't taken them side by side.
The more they play together the better they will get together.
Cooley was extremely high on Moses' pass blocking and was impressed by his footwork. Still missing a run block or two.
Scherff needs to improve asap. He says Scherff isn't playing aggressive and seems to be playing tentatively. As his snap count increases, so will his comfort level. He will stop thinking and just react (as nasty as possible hopefully).
I don't believe RG3 is the guy but if he is the starter, I hope our inexperienced right side improves enough for him to survive Wake and Suh.
If past performance predicts future outcomes; he isn't going to do all the slippery stuff to protect himself.
Very tough first match up for our offense and a scary match up for Grif. Really hope we aren't on the hook for the injury cap hit after week 1.

Glad im not the only one who sees it. The dude is just not a good qb. End of discussion. You can put him behind whatever line you want or surround him with whatever weapons you want. You can give him whatever coach you want and play him in whatever system you want. 2012 was unfortunately a mirage. He will never ever make it in the NFL. The sooner DS and all others involved realize this, the sooner we can start digging out of yet another hole. Just for the record this is not what I want, and I have been absolutely depressed about it since the 2013 season started. He has had ample time as a healthy qb in both pre-season and regular season to show us any sign of a "turn-around" and has done absolutely zilch, nada, and squat about it. Oh well. As I have always said im a Redskins fan, and i dont care who is under center or when he was drafted as long as he wins.
Flyer97 08-25-2015, 12:16 AM Punch,
Do you think they should draft a QB in 2016? I still think they need to get another first round lineman first, maybe another first and second in next years draft. Who is available next year?

I think they have several holes to fill, but this is the RG-3 turnaround thread. Lol. Way to early to know who the good qb's coming out are, plus there is the possibility that Cousins progresses. I did see one '16 mock draft that has us taking Christian Hackenberg from PSU with the 3rd pick. They had Cardale Jones going number one to the Browns.
It is also way to early too see how our young oline pans out. Would be nice to see some semblance of a line by 2016 and not have to spend two more picks on it so early.
Edit: oh n welcome to the Warpath. [emoji2]
Holy crap where has that guy gone?? On those dropbacks he looks so comfortable,he's sliding away from pressure,he just looks like a totally different qb then he does now.His mechanics and instincts now look like shit compared to then
WOW.....that dude deserves 16m a year.
