Robert Griffin III ready to turn career around with Redskins in 2015

People need to chill the F out about RG3. If works out this year, great, if he doesn't, Scot McC is building a team that can help/accommodate a new QB this year. I don't think QB is the most important positing on this team right now (yet) and McC is just trying to get by in that position while he builds a complete team.

Also, all this overhype about his comments show me that A.) people don't know how to f'ing read; and B.) RG3 or most athletes don't learn that their comments will always be taken out of context.

Agreed.

Well said.

While I generally don't care what RG3 said, it was a thoughtless thing to say. I'm not up in arms about it, but it does say to me that he doesn't learn lessons from his previous failures. Within 2 weeks no one will remember that.

Here's where I disagree on your statement. We can't just give RG3 the year. If RG3 plays poorly all year and we let him go, we're also going to lose Kirk Cousins. Kirk's contract is up and will likely go to a team where he feels he can at least be in an open competition for the starting spot. We're not only making a decision on RG3, we're making a decision on Kirk. If RG3 ends up getting hurt, we owe him 16M next year. That's a big chunk of our cap invested in a player that (if it happens that way) has been hurt the past 3 years.

In my opinion, RG3 gets the first quarter of the season to prove himself. If he's playing well, he gets to keep the position. If he's playing mediocre or struggling, I bench him to see what KC has in his tank. To be clear, I wouldn't measure RG3 purely on stats or W/L ratio. Is he reading the defense correctly, is he doing the correct drops, is he releasing the ball on time, is he making good decisions. Things us fans likely can't know for sure, but Gruden and co will.

I agree that his performance on the field is what counts but I also think that he's making it harder for himself by making public statements that can be taken out of context by the media to make unflattering headlines and create controversy. That's why I think it's important for him to watch what he says in public.

In the short term, what if he has a poor game against Detroit tonight? If he does, the media will eat him alive, even though they created the controversy to begin with!

The media eating him alive has nothing to do with his comments. They are going to figure out a way to do that regardless. He was a #2 overall pick that we gave up a ton to get. People to this day still talk about Ryan Leaf and JaMarcus Russell, and outside of a couple of blowups by Leaf, they werent known for talking to the media.

The whole media thing is just being blown up by the media. Why? Because people like you eat it up and they get paid. If RG3 never talked to the media, there would be another reason they would come up with to do this, and you would eat that up as well. If he was a media darling and said everything right, they would come up with something else to make it the story they want. He was a #2 overall and being talked about as a bust, that is all thats necessary for this to happen, saying the right or wrong things to the media is not required.

Who says I'm eating up what the media is dishing out? I don't care if anything more is ever written or said about RGIII. I just want to see the Redskins play 20 or more times a year (counting preseason). I don't watch pre-game or post-game drivel on TV. I do read some articles about the Skins and I participate on this board.

Nevertheless, I don't live in a vacuum, so I know something of what's going on in Redskins Nation. In real life, I also know enough to keep my head down, my ears open, and my mouth shut while I'm learning a trade. That maxim would seem to me to apply even to NFL QB's.

I think this is a fair assessment. I just think that McCloughan probably doesn't think that RG3 or KC are the the long term answer at QB; but he is using the possibility of one of them being good (or good enough) for now to give him the time to build other areas of the team.

If either RG3 or KC work out, that's great for the team. But if they don't, next year's team will be in a much better position to handle a new QB. As a fan, I want the team to win now like anyone else; but I don't pin my hopes on the current QBs because we are in a rebuilding process.

Lot of QBs available in this coming draft. Maybe we'll be just good enough that we start moving in the right direction, but just bad enough to be in position to draft one.

I don't think we'll be bad enough to be in a position to grab a good one. I don't want to reach on one, neither do I want to trade up for one again either. (not unless it's a steal)

There are many scenarios that could play out. If Griffin plays poorly odds are Jay is gonna bench him in favor of Cousins who might finally take the reigns and keep them (Maybe now's the time for Neiman to earn the part.).

IF Cousins does play well then would be re-signed and Griffin would be gone. The same thing could happen with McCoy which would be wildly unpopular. Griffin might even take the reigns himself and play well.

While I usually love playing out the various scenarios in my mind, the season is now upon us, so I don't have to.

At this point it's on the players to earn it. Robert's in his second year in the offense, and the Redskins brass has been very supportive. So he either earns a 2nd contract or he doesn't.

And if Robert fails, then Kirk has had long enough to learn to avoid INTs. So if he gets a shot, he can earn his way. If he doesn't, then peace.

We can finally just wait and see what happens. The big decisions don't get made until January, let's see how it all plays out.

Rglll is done or I am done! He is horrible end of story...and I believe he faked the injury..if he got hurt there he will not last 2games into reg season..also it is obvious that the redskin team does not believe in him....just saying what I see.
