It sounds like Gibbs is going to give McCants the chance to prove himself this year. It would be realy nice to see him put in the effort and take his game to the next level and show the McCants we saw flashes of in 2003.

Nice to see he's getting a 2nd shot, let's hope he takes full advantage of it. Also good to hear about Patten bringing some leadership to the WR corps.

Yeah, it seems like Gibbs had a serious problem with his work ethic last year. Which makes sense. You don't go playing someone a lot if they're not working hard (unless they're just way too talented to pass up). It would have sent a wierd message to the team if Gibbs were playing McCants a lot last year while he wasn't putting in the hard work. Hopefully McCants busts his ass this year and earns a spot on the field, cause I think he can do some damage in the red zone for us.

I'm so glad we'll see more of McCants. He was such a great red-zone target.

Now now, nobody's saying he'll be the second coming of Jerry Rice. I'm just hoping for a good red zone contribution coming off the bench. 25 catches and 5 TDs would make me very happy coming from him (provided the starters put up solid numbers).

Exactly. I've always known he's had talent and it's a shame that he didn't work a little harder to get on Gibbs' good side to play more last year. In that one game, he pretty much took over for a drive or two.

Let's hope he gets it going. He'd be a great fit, given the other receivers we've got. He's got great hands, excellent size (played some TE in college), and scores lots of TDs. Very good to hear he's working hard in the offseason to change the coaches' minds. This is part of the deal with Gibbs--work hard, you play; don't work hard, you sit. That's the way it's gotta be.

What worries me about Mccants is that he had just received a new contract when Gibbs was unhappy with his work ethics. Is this just because Gibbs expected more out of him than the previous coaches and he just did not adjust? Did he just take it for granted that he would see more playing time after his performance in 2003? which was good but nothing great. Or has he always been a little lazy and just relied on his skills. You would think Gibbs must see something in him or he would not still be with our team after being inactive for 10 games and not playing special teams.
