Its funny to me how he blames everyone else for his problems. Hate people like that, zero accountability. Glad he is nearly broke, that made my day

The Redskins really have no one to blame but themselves over the AH ordeal. He lacked character before he came here. It's not like once he got the money he was going to be the first one in last to leave type of player. That's just not who he was. He played football cause he was good at it, not cause he loved the game. This is what happens when you don't have a professional GM running your team.

my personal and strongly held belief re AH and the reason he signed with us ..

he accepted the skins contract bc it was front loaded w guaranteed money, then it became an avg contract.

i believe AH and his agent took the skins contract w the intent of forcing the skins cut/release/trade him after 2 years so he could sign another big guaranteed contract before riding off into the sunset.

---------

The package includes $41 million in guarantees -- the highest total in league history -- and Haynesworth is ensured of receiving about $32 million in the first 13 months of the contract, which was finalized shortly after agent Chad Speck phoned Haynesworth at around 3:45 a.m.

Redskins Sign Albert Haynesworth to Record Contract - washingtonpost.com (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/story/2009/02/28/ST2009022800147.html)

the mistake was front loading the guaranteed money to a fat lazy guy who had no passion or integrity.

what incentive did AH have to stick around here after 13 months?

he certainly did his best to force his departure.

That Haynesworth deal, and the subsequent CBA, forever changed the way the Redskins approached contracts. They used to give all the guaranteed money up front in signing bonus fashion. Now they still give a bonus, though smaller, and instead tend to guarantee the first two or three years worth of base salary.

They also used to drop the base salary in the first year down to vet minimum. The CBA dictates that can no longer be done through some rules around base salary escalation. But I have no doubt that after Haynesworth the Redskins were happy to see that change. You can tell they like to stage the payouts in such a way that the player has to fly right to collect, including positioning the contract so that the player is not incentivized to throw a hissy fit.

Desean Jackson, good example. His contract is pretty evenly distributed between the three years. The third year is worth a good chunk of change, so much so that it's in his best interests to play to earn it. The potential gain from holding out is minimized when the salary in the 3rd year is fairly attractive.

F Haynesworth. He could have been an all time great. Waste of talent. He needs to stop pointing the finger and look at himself.
