Good stuff on Jones, I think we're really going to like him. Good blocker, underrated catching balls out of the backfield.

A closer look at Redskins’ third-round running back Matt Jones - The Washington Post (http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/football-insider/wp/2015/05/05/a-closer-look-at-redskins-third-round-running-back-matt-jones/?postshare=8741430834748569)

at the combine during the medical evals, he failed multiple teams physical due to his knees. he was seen as undraftable by multiple teams.

I feel where we took him was enough risk to take on any concerns. 4th round pick? not a loss if he wouldnt pan

Undraftable... yet he played two consecutive seasons without missing a game.

What am I not understanding?

Love it. Different skill set than Morris, a complimentary one.

Morris on early downs and Jones on 3rd? Keeps 'em both fresh.

if you fail the team's physical, you are taken off their draft board. I dont know, I feel comfortable he was able to play he junior and senior years...and especially with Callahan on board.

I don't understand why some people are down on Moses and Long. They both have the physical traits you want. Some players just need a little more time to develop. We'll see where they are in training camp.

Well yeah, thanks for that. What I'm asking is why he failed. Just doesn't make sense, how could he play two straight years without an issue but fail physicals?

Team physicals can be pretty subjective. I'm sure the Skins did their homework and weighed any risks.

NFL draft: Alabama OL Arie Kouandjio has a master’s degree plan - The Washington Post (http://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/highschools/nfl-draft-alabama-ol-arie-kouandjio-has-a-masters-degree-plan/2015/05/01/9f98804a-ef77-11e4-a55f-38924fca94f9_story.html)

He soon learned that tendinitis had worn off 90 percent of the patella tendon in his right knee and 60 percent of the muscle in his left knee, leading doctors to recommend a double operation that jeopardized his football career.

Arie Kouandjio, OG, Alabama, NFL Draft - CBSSports.com - NFLDraftScout.com (http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/players/1737195/arie-kouandjio)

WEAKNESSES: <snip> Serious medical concerns after multiple knee surgeries to both knees.

He may be fine now, but teams were probably worried about his long-range durability.

Yeah I can see long term concerns, but for some teams if he can play 4-5 years that's enough to give him a shot.

...what do you think?....
What pick did you like? Where do you have questions?
Solid draft.
Schreff provides an instant boost to the OL at RT.

I like the Preston Smith signing a lot. Big bodied atheltic pass rusher.
( Personal pet peeve nothing irks me more then when a edge rusher is stood up/stale mated by a RB and big bodied pass rushers like Smith win against a RB every time.) Smith physique and playing style remind me of Michael Bennett and I imagine that's how he'll be used regardless of what they call him OLB or whatever. I see him a situational pass rusher in sub packages (and since teams are in nickel/known pass situations ~70% of the time anyway) rushing from the edge or bumped down over a guard.

Kerrigan-Hatcher-Paea-Smith or even Kerrigan-Hatcher-Smith-Murphy/Trev Williams

My favorite picks are probably won't even play much this year: Kysheon Jarrett and Martell Spaight (sp) in another thread I listed Martell as one of the prospects that I liked and it was because he's a tackling machine and he brings 'pop' to his tackles. Kysheon is an underrated S in this class. Can play Free and Strong is a willing tacklers and has decent size for a FS (small for a SS) Kysheon reminds me of a (faster) TJ Ward/Donte Whitner.

I don't get the Matt Jones pick he seems like a less talented version of Morris and there were other quality backs/players on the board when he was picked.
I'll have to go back and look at his games.

I like the Arie K pick because we need help at the OG position and throwing bodies at it is a good way to address it. Between Moses, Compton, Long and Kouandjio someone has got to supplant Chester.

I'm meh on Crowder, size deficient and speed deficient when you consider his size. Maybe he can upgrade the return units and that alone would be well worth the selection.

I like the gamble on the Tevin Mitchell kid, could be a slot/nickel specialist but with his measurables...he could be more.

Overall I think the team got better with this draft.
Adding 1 sure starter in Schreff and another heavy contributor to the defense/pass rush in Preston Smith.

Addressed depth/special teams with the other selections. It may be a stretch to call a special teammer a 'starter' but from the looks of things Spencer, especially, is gonna a core special teams player and Spaight and Jarrett should be too.
