2015 NFL Draft: Round 1EARTHQUAKE2689 05-01-2015, 01:43 AM The first round is finished and Randy Gregory is still available. Should we trade up to get him? No. NC_Skins 05-01-2015, 01:50 AM http://finance.yahoo.com/news/tennessee-titans-got-insane-trade-012700920.html How in the fuck did the Titans turn down this offer? Two first-round picks One third-round pick Fletcher Cox, the team's best defensive player Brandon Boykin, nickel corner Sam Bradford, starting quarterback Mychal Kendricks, starting linebacker skinsy 05-01-2015, 01:52 AM I know that part I mean who is he as in where did he come from? I never see him post Yep, I voted no. And no I don't post much. #5 is too high to pick a guard, even though I think he'll be a good one. It was a pick of need, not BPA. Obviously, the trade down offers were too low in Round 1 to consider, so we had to stay there which is ok. All the pass rushers were gone, but guys like Williams come around every 5 years or so. TexSkins 05-01-2015, 01:52 AM With our (hopefully) improved defensive line, the Sknis should take the LB Dawson from TCU. Talk about a nasty streak and he would/could replace Riley. His stats blew every other ILB out of the water. NC_Skins 05-01-2015, 01:57 AM Yep, I voted no. And no I don't post much. #5 is too high to pick a guard, even though I think he'll be a good one. They had Fowler/Cooper rated above him. I had some reservations at first too, but mostly I was hoping we could trade back a few spots (before Giants) and still grab him. No trades were presented (of value) and they made the pick. I'm happy. Remember how people laughed at the Cowboys for picking their Center in the 1st round? Now everybody is saying...."look what the Cowboys have been doing in the draft". It was hilarious watching some of the Extremeskins ppl go apeshit over it, yet the same guys bitching about not drafting OL over the years. skinsy 05-01-2015, 02:09 AM Yeah, this was tough because I've always complained about the skins not drafting OL too. But very good Guards can be had later in the first or early 2nd, but not guys of Williams caliber. I know Jay wants him to start working at RT, but modern day tackles are much longer than "I shot the Scherff", and his pass protection skills in college left you begging for a tackle to help him. Would you draft Marshal Yanda, Evan Mathis, Steve Hutchinson, Russ Grimm, Larry Allen at the #5 spot? I'd go out on a limb and say hell yeah. If he turns into a all-pro guard, this selection won't be questioned. skinsy 05-01-2015, 02:26 AM I'm not saying he won't be a very good, possibly All Pro guard, but I'd rather have Suh, Sapp, or Strahan over Grimm, Mathis, Larry Allen, etc. Dominant D-Line guys have to be planned around by OCs, and they literally can single handedly change games. But honestly who cares, besides Trent our O-line sucked last year so I'm not devastated by the pick. (Until I watch Williams on the Jets next year...) If he turns into a all-pro guard, this selection won't be questioned. That Guy 05-01-2015, 02:40 AM the only trade downs we could have gotten and kept the player would be #6-#8, maybe they could have bluffed the jets out of a 6th or 7th, but the top OL was going to the giants at 9. so at least we 2 for 1'd them by also making them take a worse prospect. It's hard to say he doesn't look like a good player, and he's one of the few OL that'll run and block 20 yards downfield. those types aren't easy to get, so here's hoping it translates to the NFL. I mean, i might would have gone the other way if it were me, but i'm not down on the pick at all. time is the only true judge. collins, gregory, and clemmons all on the board. wouldn't mind going OL/OL or whatnot in the 2nd. CRedskinsRule 05-01-2015, 03:15 AM Love how he finishes blocks. He will bring the toughness this team needs. At 2:42 in the video he doesn't have a block so it's like he says eh, what the hell, and knocks the guy the guard is engaged with to the ground. Made me each time i watched it. |
