i love the confident way McCloughan talks. He doesnt try to sell himself. he doesnt need to. he reminds me of a successful trial attorney. he knows what he is doing. he knows not many can do what he does ... . and it comes natural and easy to him.
im really excited for this draft bc of the options. we stay at 5 and get a premier potential player, we trade back and let Scot take some chances. its all good.

Report: Browns have been in touch with Washington about No. 5 overall pick | ProFootballTalk (http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2015/04/27/report-browns-have-been-in-touch-with-washington-about-no-5-overall-pick/)
Does the Browns first round curse come with the pick? Or does it only apply if we pick a QB with it?

Well since 1994 we've chosen, Heath Schuler, Patrick Ramsey, Jason Campbell, and RGIII. Jury may still be out on RGIII but we haven't exactly been blessed ourselves with first round picks on QBs. Hopefully we don't take one in the first trade or not. 😉

The Browns have reportedly talked to every team that picks in the Top 10 about a trade. I read that they are willing to trade both of their firsts for the opportunity to draft Marcus Mariota. If that is the only goal they have in mind, I doubt that we'll be able to trade down with them because I'd be shocked if Mariota doesn't go second.
However, if Leonard Williams is still there at #5, Scot said that he might trade down for more picks. That would be with some team other than the Browns, I assume. I can't quite fathom the value of that trade since Williams is the best player in the draft, IMO, and there wouldn't two 2015 first round picks to be had in return. I think we could always use a future All-Pro DL to dominate our opponents.

I would agree. He has a blue print on how to do things. But with that being said, he passed on Aaron Rodgers for Alex Smith. In other words, just like every NFL GM, he has bad misses.

I didn't get why he said that. Why wouldn't we just draft Williams? I know he's not a 3-4 end but he's potentially a great player.

^ I have a feeling he would draft Williams, actually. Having said that, if someone was going to make a Cerrato-like offer for a ton of picks, we'd be crazy not to at least listen to it. But I have a feeling that williams will be off the board by 5 anyway.
BTW, would be cool: On offense, meet our enforcer, Mr. Williams. On defense, meet our enforcer Mr. Williams. Williams v. Williams in practice would be a awesome thing to behold.

Pretty sure they have discussed trading with everyone ahead of them
