Why name RG3 the starter this soon?

It's a half-contract. Players have to live by it...clubs don't.Fat Albert Haynesworth didn't. Though guess a player better get paid beforehand.

Really wonder if RGIII was named the starter sooner rather than take their time, meaning the coaches, as this could be a last ditch effort?

Maybe i am insane, or jaded, or both, but i really truly feel it is a matter of Dan Snyder preferred RG3 to be his QB, no matter what. And so to accomplish this goal he made sure he brought in people / got other people on board with the decision. I believe Gruden was told straight up for him to get year 2, he had to accept that RG3 was the starter no matter what. Other coaches who were brought in were probably told the same. If they disagreed on personnel, they would have likely not been hired.

What you say is not outside the realm of possibility, IMO. Nevertheless, RGIII still needs to perform well on the field to keep the job. Dan Snyder won't save him if he continues to play poorly.

Since we're rebuilding, I can wait out the QB decision.

I think i disagree with the RG3 needs to play well part. I think if Dan is convinced that RG3 should be the guy, then there is no stopping him. Who is going to change his mind?

Rebuilding is a term that we use to loosely here. Our problem was, is, and will always be, we have one guy (Mr. Snyder) who believes that he "knows" players, and "knows" the game of football well enough that he can make all these decisions himself. Dan doesn't know either of these things. I still do not understand why he has hired a GM when everybody knows that DS is always going to make the final call.

Here is a conversation that will NEVER take place at Redskins Park:

Coach / GM, etc: "Mr. Snyder, we understand that you want RG3 to be our unquestioned starter, but all of us have reviewed game film, spoken with other scouts, talent evaluators, coaches, etc.. and the general consensus here and among the NFL is that RG3 can't play the position well enough to get wins. Continuing to play him is setting back this team and hurting the growth of other positions that rely on good QB play."

Dan Snyder: "Well, i guess you're right, it looks like i was mistaken in my evaluation of RG3. Thanks for explaining. We need to put the BEST players on the field in order to have the best chance of winning"

Because he is probably not so set on Griffin as people make it out to be. I'm sure there is some truth about the rumors, but I'm sure all of it is not.

Agreed upon.....RG3 needs to play up to par if he's to remain the starting quarterback of the Washington Redskins.....Gruden won't hesitate to pull him again if Griffin plays poorly....
