Ultimate Madden team. donofriose 01-14-2015, 01:12 PM really, this team needs OL,TE, RB, DL, OLB, CB, and S. There is no chance they will fill all their needs in the draft. Not this year. But in a couple... it is possible. Even though I think free agency should still be used I am not a fan of building a Madden team. Copy what Seattle did. OLB, TE, RB how are these needs? (maybe OLB, but not likely finding a reasonably priced FA upgrade out there) DL/CB, one draft spot, maybe 2 OL and S absolutely 4 picks in this area. If we trade down in one of the first 3 rounds, we should have 4-5 top 100 draft picks. We need to hit on them, for OL, S and maybe DL help. When you list RB or TE you just sound like a pipe dream fan. We have Morris, Helu, Redd, as reasonably proven talents. Likewise Paul, Paulson and Reed are a combo that minimizes the need for using a draft pick at TE this year. Those are both spots where you get cheap FA's, let them compete, and best players stay. Sure, we could use FA's, every team can, but our emphasis should not be on any FA "saviors" at any position. NC_Skins 01-14-2015, 01:26 PM Absolutely not. Say no to free agents unless they happen to be a bargain. We aren't remotely close to contending and we need to get our foundation put up before we can start adding walls or a roof. (which is what FA ends up being) Irrefutable 01-14-2015, 01:30 PM Not this year. But in a couple... it is possible. Copy what Seattle did. counting on getting a Richard Sherman, and a Byron Maxwell in the late rounds is a questionable strategy. It looks like Seattle traded down several times- they have had extra picks in the last 5 years, including 2 #1 picks in 2010 The Redskins cannot turn things around solely based on 2 drafts- and no free agents 30gut 01-14-2015, 02:15 PM My top target would be RT. I consider this a MUST upgrade position to run a functional offense. Banking on our youth developing or the draft for merely league average production is a long shot. And the best chance for this offense to have success (or any offense for that matter) is to win at the point of attack. Even though youth would be my preference RT carries such a high priority that I would still consider quality starters who are older. RT for me is not a position where I would take a wait see approach, its a 'no fail' mission to upgrade. Targets: Bryan Bulaga Derek Newton King Dunlap Ryan Harrris (who was for a song last offseason) Michael Roos Next position would be FS Again, merely league average production from the FS would be a benefit to the defense. But we don't have anyone of the roster and expecting a production from a rookie draft pick is asking a lot. Targets- Devin McCourty Da'Norris Searcy Tashaun Gipson Will Hill (only makes the list because we're desparate, otherwise I wouldn't have the knucklehead on the list) Chris Clemons DL- We need youth along the DL and instead of signing/re-signing some rather middling players Bowen/Jenkins. I would target: Stephen Paea FA/Draft offseason wants: RT, FS, SS, NB, DL-Pass rusher, OG, TE CRedskinsRule 01-14-2015, 05:56 PM counting on getting a Richard Sherman, and a Byron Maxwell in the late rounds is a questionable strategy. We basically had two full staffs evaluating college players at all levels- the Skins glorious college scouting depth and McC's private firm. The draft isn't a sure thing but this year ought to be as close as the Skins can get. On the other hand our pro personnel department has been less than stellar, and McC certainly was not sitting around looking at potential FAs. Take this year to load up on draft picks, evaluate the pro personnel on their jobs and get the right crew in for the next year. Next year we should be more balanced in the approach, and hopefully less position needy. Plus we would have the added bonus of actually rolling cap over in the offseason assuming we leave the big name FA alone this year. He's probably looking at closer to 4-5 years. Irrefutable 01-14-2015, 07:56 PM I don't think McC is planning on this taking two years. He's probably looking at closer to 4-5 years. He better plan on a quick (2 or 3 year) turnaround, because McC will not have a job if it takes 4 or 5 years. If they spend wisely, and draft wisely, the Redskins can be good in 2 years. |
