With all of the talk around us needing safety help and trust me I am firmly on that bandwagon. Did everyone forget that we picked up Duke Ihenacho last year and then he got hurt, I remember him being pretty good and could with Phillip Thomas be a decent safety tandom, as I believe that we are much more in desperate need of yournger cheaper more effective o-line as well as pass rush help.

You are welcome my child. Anything else you want?

That duo wouldn't inspire much confidence IMO. And they're both better suited for strong safety. We can do a lot better and we need to.

we limped into this past season with a "everything needs to go right for this group to be serviceable" secondary.
I want FS addressed with a bonafide NFL caliber starter. not a rookie, not a guy who may rebound, not a guy who takes a vet min contract.
imo the NFL is changing. FS is vital now. SS is very important. elite corners are luxuries which i would love to have, but if you give me an elite FS and a solid SS, i can mask average corners with a decent pass rush and good cover line backers.
yeshh .. i feel like i just described the seahawks D sans the elite corners.
the idea that a great pass rush masks a weak secondary is not necessarily true in today's offensive friendly NFL. even with a good pass rush, QBs/OCs are finding ways to create more time and take the top off.

Here's a UFA to consider as a Third Down Back: Shane Vereen.
- 25 years old
- 52 receptions last season. 3 receiving TD's.
- 4.1 YPC. 2 rushing TD's last season.
- No fumbles in 2014.
- Exceptional quickness
- Great hands
- Good route runner
Whatta ya say?

Does he block well? Because Helu does all of the above well too and will probably be cheaper.

1. i think Gruden def wants to add a pass catcher out of the back field
2. i think we should find our own shane vereen. he may want 4-5 mil per when we can find an equivalent for less or draft one mid/late (if he isnt on the roster already).
3. I think vereen's stats are a product of brady/belicheck.
edit - yeah helu is pretty much vereen without the spotlight or targets. good call
