I kind of agree with that too. Good thing is, we have the preseason to evaluate where we are talent-wise. See how he does in pre-season.
Gibbs To Meet With Gardner TodayTheMalcolmConnection 04-25-2005, 03:20 PM I kind of agree with that too. Good thing is, we have the preseason to evaluate where we are talent-wise. See how he does in pre-season. Riggo44 04-25-2005, 03:23 PM I think we have to keep Gardner now! I wish we had taken Williams with or 9th pick!! We could have got a good CB at 25. TheMalcolmConnection 04-25-2005, 03:29 PM Yeah, I think fan-wise, it would have been the popular thing to do. I really do want to give this decision a chance. I also think that Gibbs must be confident that we will be more than playoff bound to give up that 1st round pick next year. BIGREDSKINFAN63 04-25-2005, 03:35 PM the skins got the highest rated qb in the draft, according to draft experts.ramsey's a$$ is on the line this season.if he plays like he has the last 3 years,he's not gonna be a redskin next year.i think gibbs know's what he's doing, the man has won 3 superbowls with some very medicore qbs who exceled in his system. http://users.snip.net/~bhance/eagles/schedules/images/riggins_SBxvii.jpg Riggo44 04-25-2005, 03:37 PM Let's all hope so. If we gave up a top 10 pick in next years draft for the 25th this year I will be pissed! But if were good next year then our pick wont be that high. So I guess will have to wait for time to tell on that one. SkinsRock 04-25-2005, 04:13 PM I think holding on to Gardner this season could work, but I have a couple concerns: a. I'd still like to see McCants get a shot as the big posession WR. Yeah, he's not as fast as Rod, but he can catch the ball, especially in clutch situations. b. Don't forget about the $2 million in cap relief that comes with trading or releasing him. They'll need that room to sign rookies and have a little room for preseason/midseason injury replacements. Someone will need to go...maybe June 1 cuts? offiss 04-25-2005, 04:16 PM the skins got the highest rated qb in the draft, according to draft experts.ramsey's a$$ is on the line this season.if he plays like he has the last 3 years,he's not gonna be a redskin next year.i think gibbs know's what he's doing, the man has won 3 superbowls with some very medicore qbs who exceled in his system. http://users.snip.net/~bhance/eagles/schedules/images/riggins_SBxvii.jpg You made a very good point there BRS, Gibbs did win 3 SB's with 2 medicre QB's Joey T. was a good one, but nonetheless Schroeder, Williams, Rypien, Humphries where not great you could argue that before Gibbs got a hold of them they weren't even good QB's, and to maybe compare Campbell in that light is also a very fair comparison I am on board with that, and here's the BUT, Rypien and Humphries were both 6th rd picks, Williams cost us a 5th via trade, Schroeder was the highest pick in the 3rd rd in 84', Campbell was at best a late 2 or a third rd pick before someone would take a chance on him, that's where my problem lies with this pick. BigSKINBauer 04-25-2005, 05:08 PM maybe that is why we didn't draft a wide reciever. ? He will be productive if he is on the team and if not just plug in the infinite number 3s we have on this team. He will do better, contract year, and he now knows no one is ready to give up jack for him and knows he better have a good season next year or he may out of a starting job on any team Redskins_P 04-25-2005, 05:24 PM Hopefully if Gardner DOES come back, he'll play better. I mean he has no excuse now...contract year, and he already knows the system. If he came back, there is no reason why he shouldn't be able to gain over 1000 yds receiving. (IMO) That being said, I wouldn't get my hopes up with Gardner. After all, his nickname is 50/50. sportscurmudgeon 04-25-2005, 05:36 PM I'm sure that Gibbs will tell Gardner that he needs to be more reliable out there on the field. That isn't likely to change much. I can tell my pet cat that he needs to learn to solve differential equations but that isn't gonna make it happen. Gardner will play better this year than last because I think he now sees what his value is around the league. If he doesn't have a much better year now, he will not be fielding calls during next year's free agency, he'll be faxing out his resume to teams. Here is something the coaching staff needs to focus on. They need to be sure that anyone going to Rod Gardner's birthday party this year takes a cab... |
