And they are bringing RGIII SolidSnake84 01-12-2015, 07:26 PM It's a sad statement about us that Mike Shanahan is getting play on the job market this year. He should be toxic on the market. But many other teams blame people who are still in our FO for the spectacular flame-out, not Shanahan. Let me ask you this, but why should Shanahan be toxic? Just a few weeks ago people were saying how Shanahan was "forced" into drafting RG3 because it's what Dan wanted, and they were sticking up for him saying that Shanahan knew that RG3 couldn't play the position, but his hands were tied, etc... Shanahan was not the reason for the flame out. We have a shitty owner - shitty former general manager in Bruce Allen - we don't believe in the draft, always try and fill holes through free agency. For the best part of Shanahan's tenure - we had shitty players and a shitty defense and shitty DC in Jim Haslett. No coach has, or will, win in those circumstances. Jay Gruden has much of the same. He has no answer at QB. My hope is that Scott McCloughan rights alot of the wrongs listed above. I didn't like Shanahan when he was here, but he was hardly the sole reason for our problems... Giantone 01-12-2015, 07:38 PM Remember Peyton Manning almost came to Washington because of Shannahan and even stayed at his house out in Colorado ,they are close and he will run an offense that Manning will thrive in when fully healthy . Giantone 01-12-2015, 07:39 PM And they are bringing RGIII Why ,they didn't want him in Washington ,RGIII was an owner pick . I pretty much agree with everything you said. My perspective adds the fact that Shanahan took a huge poop on the organization and fans alike on his way out the door. He didn't have to be so unprofessionally spiteful. If I'm an owner, I'm worried about his maybe doing the same to my franchise. For a guy that signed on claiming to have "full control" only to now hear about how he never got to pick his coaches (Haslett) or players (RG3 among others), something isnt right. Did Shanahan go full coward to Dan Snyder? Or is the Dan excuse just that, an excuse? Shanny comes across as having an ego (not necessarily a bad thing in pro sports), so I cant help but question if he would have just cowered to any Dan Snyder whim that was placed on his desk. If Dan fires him, thats a helluva lot of money to make while sitting at home doing nothing or getting a second paycheck from a different team. Shanny comes across to me as a guy who would force the issue if he wasnt getting full say and he honestly believed that the choices being forced on him were bad choices. Fletcher said in his dissing of Haslett that Shanny recognized immediately that Haslett was a joke, yet Haslett was around his entire tenure. RG3 is big enough to just say it is so due to Dans meddling in the past, whether true or not, but Haslett? Are you honestly telling me that Dan demanded Haslett and refused to allow him to be fired? Im not a fan of Dan Snyder. But if he truly was 100% running this franchise during Shannys tenure, which is what is now being described, something tells me Shanny wouldnt just accept it. Especially if he had it written into his contract. If he did have it written in, then Shanny chose his coaches and players. If he didnt, his agent blatantly failed in the crafting of the contract. MTK 01-12-2015, 08:02 PM Shanny definitely isn't without blame here. Let's not kid ourselves. And last I checked he's still looking for a job. I wonder how serious any interest in him really is. OmahaRedskins 01-12-2015, 08:38 PM Where is all of this Shanny love coming from? skinsfan69 01-12-2015, 08:58 PM Mike Shanahan has a lot more football credibility than Allen or Snyder. End of discussion. MTK 01-12-2015, 09:01 PM Mike Shanahan has a lot more football credibility than Allen or Snyder. End of discussion. I don't think anyone denies that. But his fingerprints are all over our mess just the same. |
