I think by this time next year people will be loving Gruden instead of asking when will he be fired.

Eh, I dunno if I'd say people would be singing his praises. But I do think there'll be a vast improvement from this season. No, that doesn't necessarily mean playoffs, but I don't think we'll be the absolute laughing stock of the league next year.

Hiring Single T the year after Gruden gets here is probably the most fortuitous thing that's ever happened to the latter's career. Scot has been a part of three successful teams and is the main guy responsible for building San Francisco... he's obviously better at his job than Allen or AJ Smith. If he's able to do his thing here(gotta wonder if he really knows what he's getting into) and Gruden is able to coach...

Heard Cooley sitting in on the Kevin and Tom show yesterday. K & T were remarking the positive comments about the Dan in the interview with SM coming from Scott. Basically, they were saying they did not understand why these guys spoke so highly of Dan since they already had the job. No need to brown nose the boss with BS.
Cooley stepped in and stated "you guys don't get it. Everybody loves Dan. He's a great guy". The fans don't like him but everybody who meets him thinks he is a great guy........
weird....

I think given the proper tools Gruden can be a good coach. I pick up a Kubiac vibe, he"ll coach The Skins to the playoffs on a regular basis but not deep post-season runs.

Considering Was has only made the playoffs thrice the past two decades it would be a big step up.

As fans, we judge our like/dislike based on wins. I have found myself in the past saying "I hate Dan Snyder", but that is a simplified version of it all. I have no clue if Dan is a good guy or not, he may be a great guy to have as a friend. I dont actually hate the guy, I just wish we had a different owner. Its just easier to say "I hate Dan Snyder" than go on a monologue about why he is a bad owner.

Now... If he has truly learned his lesson and is going to turn over the keys to McC and will be patient, that thought will change. In reality, we are starting to think Dan is getting it and becoming a better owner. How we as fans will express it is that we are now liking Dan Snyder.

McCloughan was GM of the 49ers from 2005-2010. He drafted well during that time. But the team’s records were 4-12, 7-9, 5-11, 7-9, 8-8, and 6-10. It wasn’t until after he left and Jim Harbaugh came aboard as the head coach did things gel in San Francisco.

Need to Know: Will Redskins fans be patient enough for rebuilding with the draft? | Rich Tandler's Real Redskins (http://realredskins.com/2015/01/07/need-to-know-will-redskins-fans-be-patient-enough-for-a-rebuild/)

As mentioned already, it's useful to realize that we're on the right path but that path is sometimes a long one.

Per Scot: “I can promise you this: after getting through free agency and getting through the draft, we’ll be a better roster next year, no matter what.”

This is what I wanted to hear from our new GM. Good luck, Scot! I'm holding you to your promise.

BTW, who is ultimately responsible for handling the salary cap? I would think it would be Scot, since he 's putting the roster together but this is the Redskins and what they do doesn't always make sense. Does anyone here know?

I think Allen does based on an espn 980 interview, which has me nervous. That, in some marginal way, gives him control over the roster and roster moves.
