The problem is, Manning has always been on teams that can't support him if he fails. It's always the case. If Manning has a bad game, the Broncos (or Colts) lose. I have never ever seen any of his teams win the game despite Manning, with the exception of the Super Bowl and which Rhodes and Bob Sanders willed them to a win. Your team can't be that reliant on the QB. I think we are seeing the same thing with the Colts as well.

Check this for instance. Earlier this year, the Colts played the Patriots in Foxboro and got their ass stomp. You'd figure Brady played lights out, but he didn't. In fact, they won despite his poor play.

New England Patriots vs. Indianapolis Colts - Box Score - November 16, 2014 - ESPN (http://espn.go.com/nfl/boxscore?gameId=400554417)

Carried by a RB and a defense. Negate that "stat padder" they did at the end, and his rating was well below 80 for that game. Tom can afford to have a bad game (unless turnovers are involved) and they still win. QBs like Peyton and Luck don't have that luxury.

If Luck plays bad next week, that team is sunk.

Glad you pointed this out. Remember what happened the year Manning was hurt in Indy? The team won one game. Same team. No Manning. There was actually talk of Manning winning MVP because it was that evident he was the reason they won so much prior to the injury.
Edit: Brady missed a season and they still won 11 games!

Manning's teams were good enough to rack up tons of wins in the regular season, but underachieved most years when they got to the playoffs. And he played poorly in a lot of those playoff losses, so stop making excuses for him.

Brady won 3 Super Bowls with scrub receivers and running backs. And he hardly had historically good Defenses like the Ravens and Seahawks. Solid at best.

Brady > Manning when it counted.

There have been games where Denver has carried Manning. Vs. The bill is a perfect example.

Buffalo Bills vs. Denver Broncos - Box Score - December 07, 2014 - ESPN (http://espn.go.com/nfl/boxscore?gameId=400554428)

Every team needs all three phases to play well to win. If the offense doesn't do well they will lose. If the D does bad, they will lose. Same thing with Special Teams.

When Manning does bad, it directly impacts the defense. Just like when the defense does bad it directly impacts Manning and the offense.

Manning doesn't play well enough in the playoffs to win. Just watch the super bowl for a perfect example. Manning and the offense played horribly which put the defense in terrible spots.

There have been multiple times where Manning has had a top 5 defense and offense and they go out in one game.

If we want to give Manning all the credit, he deserves some of the blame as well. Just like Brady or any other QB.

Then the next year a rookie QB took that same one win team to the playoffs.

Luck is awesome too. This isnt about Luck it is about Manning and Brady. They each missed a year in their prime. Mannings team won one, Bradys won 11. Cannot discount that.
The Colts - when Lucks career there is over can look back and say they probably had thee longest run in NFL history with an elite QB at the helm.
Edit : not trying to take anything away from Brady. He is one of the all time greats but if you switched his and Mannings teams through their careers we are saying Brady couldnt win in big spots. Its all about situations in sports. Put Dan Marino on the Redskins in the 80's - where by the way he was very close to winding up - and he probably has 3-4 rings. Put Terry Bradshaw on the Lions and we have no idea who he is today. Lol

LOL...the Bills. I point out where the team carried Tom against a playoff team, and you counter with the Bills. C'mon man.....

Stop saying he had top 5 defenses. That is inaccurate. Defensive units ranked by yardage doesn't mean jack shit. PPG allowed defensively is what matters. 2010 though was different and by all accounts the Colts should have did a lot.

Peyton also faced a great defense with that Chicago team. Can you find me one game Tom has faced that kind of defense in a playoff game? The Ravens are probably the only team that comes to mind, but let's look at who their QBs were during those years....lol

Bad offenses doesn't always affect defenses. Chicago and Baltimore got to the Super Bowl with shitty offenses that didn't produce, yet their units are still strong.

FYI: Defensively this year...

NE ranked 8th in NFL in PPG allowed defensively.

Denver ranked 16th in PPG allowed defensively.

For starters, it's an "excuse" that even the Colts owner said when he fired Bill Polian and noted they spent too many resources on the offense and neglected the defense. It's reality. I've said time and time and time again that defense wins championships. Look at history. History shows you everything you need to know about defense and championships. Very few exceptions.

Offense wins in the regular season.
Defense wins in the playoffs.
Special teams win championships.
