As a Redskins fan I would not take Gregory at #5 even if he didn't fail the drug test. I would rather take Shane Ray who has speed and a high motor off the edge or Dante Fowler. I'm not to sure on Vic Beasley because he did well at the combine he moved up in the draft. The combine is nice to watch but watching film is what I would base my decision on who we draft. The film don't lye. I would not pick Gregory in the 1st rd.

Maybe in the media's eyes. He probably moved very little on most teams' boards, if at all. Same with Gregory. The media and draftniks are just playing catch up.

Yeah I think the concerns about Gregory are enough to drop him off the board for the #5 pick.

That's what I was thinking looking at the list. Haven't these usually started by now?

Here's what I'm going to find interesting about Gregory, and others in his spot. Our GM is on his third chance to show he can overcome substance abuse demons. So will he extend that same benefit to potential draft picks? Would it be unfair/hypocritical if he didn't?

I'm sure some teams regarded SM as....not first round type GM risk?
Perhaps we should regard Gregory the same...

Let me first say that i am a Gregory fan on the field. but im not buying his story about his use of the weed tho. Knowing that the combin3 was coming up and he was going to be tested makes me believe it was more than a recreational use or to treat anxiety. not that i think it will really affect his play on th field much....but he is NO use to us if he is constantly getting suspended for getting high. and for that reason alone i dont see how SM can afford to take that risk with this player...on THIS team. We need so many pieces and a player who is going to come in, start and be there for us. So in that regard its not being hypocritical at all on SM's part...just smart buisness. Take Fowler or Beasly and be done with it if we cant trade back.

Interesting question. If McC hold substance abuse against others, he's a hypocrite, living on a form of mercy that he won't extend to others. But if McC doesn't hold substance abuse against others, he runs the risk of drafting stupidly.

I don't think it would be wise for him to take a gamble at the top of the draft, do you?

In the later rounds fine, that's when you can roll the dice a bit.

In the end he's got to make the best possible decision for the team, all personal issues aside.
