Irrefutable 03-12-2015, 07:01 PM While I really want the Skins to trade down, I don't think there are as many trade partners as people think. There are some teams that need a back up/ future QB, but are they going to trade a bunch of picks to get a guy who will sit a year or more?
it only takes two teams for a bidding war - keep in mind only 5 of the top 10 QBs in 2014 started as a rookie.... Aaron Rodgers didn't start until year 4
Defensewins 03-12-2015, 07:35 PM ...............I heard someone on ESPN this morning, I think it was Bill Polian, saying that he believes Tennessee will likely take Mariotta at #2.
If I were Tennessee Titans, I would take MM. Locker is gone and Mettenberger is not a high upside kind of player and the other two QB's Charlie Whitehurst and Jordan Palmer are tall in height and that is about it. Titans FO likes tall QB's and MM is 6'4" 220.
Chances are I think MM will not be there at #5

I agree, look for teams that O DEED in FA. Miami might be a team that would like to jump up. Miami are signing players like they think there a player away from making the SB.
tc2deuce 03-12-2015, 11:24 PM Cam Erving is the OT I vote for
Vic Beasley at OLB over Gregory
tc2deuce 03-13-2015, 02:10 AM First Draft simulator (obviously traded down twice)

Round 2 Pick 5 (NYJ): Shaq Thompson, OLB/ILB, Washington
Round 2 Pick 6: Mario Edwards, DE, Florida State
Round 2 Pick 16 (S.D.): Arie Kouandjio, OG, Alabama
Round 3 Pick 5: Bryce Petty, QB, Baylor
Round 4 Pick 6: Stephone Anthony, ILB, Clemson
Round 5 Pick 5: Stefon Diggs, WR, Maryland
Round 6 Pick 6: Andy Gallik, C, Boston College

not that that would be terrible, but good luck trading down once, let alone twice.
mrreddman 03-15-2015, 11:55 AM if MM is still there at #5 and the Eagles offered the Skins RT Lane Mathews, their 2015 1st round pick, and 2016 1st round pick and a 2nd round pick... do you think the Skins should do it?

I just don't think the Eagles are the team to move up...I would consider cleveland, buffalo, Titans and the jets as the most serious canidates for mariota.

Faster than you could say "Chip Kelly is an idiot."
Clayton is on the Kevin and Thom show on 980 and he.....states...YES they take him if available at #5
According to him....."to good to pass up. May be long time before another opportunity like this presents itself. Smart move"
I wouldn't have a problem with it myself.
If SM doesn't think the QB of the future is already on the roster and he has the chance to take a guy he thinks can be, just do it.
Keim as usual hits it on the head here
@john_keim RG3 & Mariota come from the same system. How on earth would that be an upgrade for the Redskins? #jkmailbag
John Keim: Good question. My initial thought a while ago was that Mariota would face a difficult adjustment, just like Robert Griffin III. It's not the exact same offense, but he certainly wasn't a traditional drop-back passer; then again neither was Andy Dalton when he arrived in Cincinnati with Jay Gruden. But this isn't about style, it's about personality and whether they feel Mariota can develop, because they're not confident that Griffin will. It's about a lot of the intangibles. People will scream about that and cry about some nonsensical bias, but just telling you the truth since, you know, I talk to people. If they felt Griffin would "get it" then this discussion would not be taking place. So the upgrade comes, honestly, from working with a different talented young quarterback. For what it's worth, I liked Griffin a lot more as a player coming out of college than Mariota. But I've talked to several in the NFL who like Mariota more -- nobody would have said that after 2012, but that's become a distant memory. Also: the two ACL surgeries have to be a factor for a guy who loves taking off from the pocket. Mariota is durable. The coaches do not view Griffin's failures as the result of playing in that offense. Ultimately that's the key.
