Shady owned us bro every yr. I'm happy he's gone and Kelly is pulling a spurrier he wants all these Oregon guys. Alonso Is a solid player but nothing special

A lot of people blasting Philly for this move. As a fan in their division I don't like it. McCoy was terrible last year. They traded a RB, granted a very good one, for an extremely talented LB. The big thing here is their cap. McCoy was going to make what, 30ish million over the next 2 years? Alonso 1.5 million? Thats an extra 28.5 they get to spend. They'll go to the draft and get another RB, especially this year.

Now they have the room to go get someone like a Mike Ipuitati (sp?) and/or a Suh. People we don't want to see. They got rid of a RB with declining production for an injured LB. I consider the two players about even. I think the cap savings is really big, especially after they cut Ryans.

Philly has created a lot of holes...a ton. Sure more cap to spend but your breaking up a core, a team. Trent cole gone today too? That's just a big. Kelly has ripped away the identity of this team. There is a vacuum of leadership and identity.

I laugh to myself when I hear how the rb isn't as prominent in today's nfl. Well folks we are gonna find out this year if Murray, shady and ap switch teams...how it affects their balance. Damn, Minnesota could have been in playoff contention if ap was in there last year.

Lesean wasn't good last year? Check the numbers, very solid year. This lb from buffalo is unproven, coming off major injury. This was the best defensive player they could have gotten? This is a terrible trade for the Eagles.

I agree he was terrible last year, had only 4 games where he broke 100 yards. He was approaching the "not worth what they were going to pay you" level.
The Eagles have a really good O-line that any talented back or two will do well behind. As Timmy Smith proved, any back can look good behind a great O-line. Not saying McCoy is not good but he is not worth the big bucks they were going to have to pay him.
The winning teams make these kind of moves, replacing expensive players with younger cheaper players.
As Daseal said this upcoming draft is really a strong RB class.
McCoy was a second round pick, so it is not like they invested a ton in him.

According to an Eagles fan site, McCoy was scheduled to make $12 mil. this season. Makes the move more sensible.

Maybe, but you don't think McCoy would at least listen to reworking his contract? I haven't looked at overthecap, so not sure if it could be. Still, this move just comes off as arrogance by CK.

Eagles already had decent cap space, could go after anyone they wanted (they had more than us before this I believe)

Good point. I can't speak to his contract negotiations. I was just saying that $12 mil. is a lot to pay a back.

I couldn't be happier that we don't have to play him twice a year any more.

it could be nice to not face the no 1 and 3 rushing yards leaders next year. Game planing for Kiki Alonzo is not the same as game planing for shady McCoy.

They did create a lot of cap space to spend, but we all know especially being Skins fans that teams aren't built in FA. You draft core players and hope they become good enough so you have to pay them. Chip better hope he can win with this strategy if not he will be fired within two years.

At first, the Eagles seem silly and seems like a horrible move. Then, after points were raised as above - I'm starting to get nervous. Chip Kelly is either a complete idiot or a Bellichek-type genius doing a Jedi-Mind trick on us all.

Taking risk on cheap talented LB they could use for 8-10 years and fix a major weakness (D), instead of expensive RB for 2 years they may not need.. I'm hoping this backfires -- hoping Kiki doesn't come back the same after injury and hoping Chip loses the locker room... But the Eagles were surprisingly decent without DJax last year despite a backup QB, and if they get a good QB somehow, their offensive system could keep them dangerous despite offloading all of their talent. And that would be bad for us -- if the system makes everyday players good, then it's sustainable for years to come.
