If MD wants to pay for it go ahead. Dumb on their part but we all know how things go with money/financing stadiums.

Also not sure how traffic would work with parking there. If I remember correctly there is like one road that goes into National Harbor. Plus the 495 Bridge would be screwed (usually is anyway). You do have other connecting highways in the area which depending on how they construct it might help.

it's 2 lanes local, 2 lanes through that connects AFTER national harbor at exit 4 (so you have to sit in the local lanes THROUGH arlington to take exit 2 in maryland, fml).

traffic would be an absolute nightmare. there is some space to add lanes (on the MD side, NOT in VA where you'd need it), but that'd be sooo expensive...

Adding lanes is the easy part. The problem is that there is no public transportation that goes anywhere near there. It seems the closest Metro station is Branch Ave. and that's not very close. FedEx is a traffic nightmare and IMO this location would be powers of ten times worse.

Just don't understand why they can't tear down RFK and put up a new stadium there. It's right on the metro, you have Capital Hill right next door, it's the perfect location. The team should be in DC, not NVA or PG County.

a person working as an exec for the nats stadium and is a real estate buying junkie told me years ago the DS (under a group name) bought a good bit of land around barry farms, mentioned it was real close to Nats stadium and ideally they want to get more boat traffic.

if they mean Gaylord National, the skins might see a drop in ticket holders in MoCo and Frederick. To get from gaithersburg to national harbor is an additional 15 miles or so from Landover. 15 brutal traffic highway miles.

For Va, it might be worse, that bridge would have to be changed to a 3-1 lane in before games and 3-1 out after.

a new stadium is needed. i hate going to fed ex.

Because that land is in DC, and the DC politicians want the name changed. I'd love to see it happen in DC but if they persist with this name change MD/VA will start looking way more attractive.

because before fedex, DS tried to do exactly that, but the DC politicians were such a PitA to deal with that he decided that maryland was a better option. we almost lost the nats because the DC council couldn't get out of it's own way, even with the mayor begging and pleading 24/7 to try and get it done.

anyways, for anyone that doesn't know, national harbor would be a terrible idea. they don't have enough roads going there to being with, and anyone coming from VA would have to go through basically the worst part (traffic wise) of VA, which is the alexandria local lanes.

for public transportation, they'd do a bus line from a metro stop, that's been done before, and it's not very expensive, but it would be incredibly slow.
