Interesting article:
Why Russell Wilson isn't an elite QB - NFL (http://espn.go.com/nfl/insider/story/_/id/13070224/why-russell-wilson-elite-qb-nfl)
Regardless of Wilson's metrics, teams have to overpay franchise QBs to keep them from hitting the free market. I'm really curious to see how Pete Carol keeps his team together when he has to start paying all these players he got at a bargain price (i.e. Sherman, Wilson).

No way Seattle wins a Super Bowl without him though...if you base everything on stats then you dont get it.
What do you think the market will be for Wilson if Seattle would let him walk?
All that money Broncos paid Peyton...no return, but his stats are amazing. Wilson has something Peyton doesnt, and thats why he can command the salary that is coming to him.

Interesting question. I don't know. I suspect someone would make him the richest QB in the league, but I am not 100% certain of that. Would he get Peyton (or whoever is top dog money-wise at the moment) if he walked? Or, would the market build in a discount based on a perception that he benefitted from the talent around him and the defense in Seattle.

Peyton in his prime was paid a ton of money and had insane stats. Indy felt flat on its face when Peyton was injured. I doubt Seattle would fall flat on its face if Wilson were to go down with a season ending injury.
Yes, Wilson has something that Peyton doesn't: an elite defense and running game. But a lot of QBs would not take advantage of those opportunities the way Wilson has.
I think Wilson should be paid, as long as his guaranteed money doesn't surpasses Luck's. He should definitely get more money than Cam Newton.

Seattle had Lynch and that defense before Wilson got there. They aren't crazy enough to go back to the mediocre QB wasteland. Seattle offense jumped from middling to top 5 when Russ got there. Now we know its a 'passing league' and Wilson doesn't post flashy passing numbers but he has a huge impact on the running game and to borrow a cliche: Russ makes big time plays in big time situations. Nevermind that Seattle's OL and receiving corps are average at best.

Given that Seattles defense and special teams outscored the entirety of Denver, how can you say they dont win without Wilson? They dont win without that defense. They win that game as long as the offense doesnt give up points to Denver.

Let Seattle get stupid and let Wilson hit the open market. He's from Richmond right?
If our QBs don't work out I would welcome Russ coming home.

With McC it could be a package deal with Seattle o-coordinator as the head coach.
