I mos definitely believe with our talent now on defensive we could get much more out of them under a different scheme and coaching.

No thank you. Coaching and playing the game are two completely different things.

Richie Pettibon coached and played the game.
Gregg Williams coached and played the game.
Ron Rivera coached and played the game.
Todd Bowles coached and played the game.

Quite a few successful coordinators in the league (or were in the league before retiring) have played the game at one time or another before getting into coaching. So I wouldn't shun the idea of London Fletcher being some type of coach for our team. That being said, I wouldn't just throw him in at defensive coordinator, but I don't see why it would be a terrible idea to look at him in terms of being a linebacker coach.

More so then being a ex-player I would not want him as a first time coach. We need someone experienced on all levels of coaching to right this ship.

Wade Phillips is who I want but I doubt we get him. Probably will be someone that nobody has ever heard of

I wouldn't want him as a DC. Absolutely not! Not right now anyway. However, I wouldn't necessarily scoff at the idea of bringing him in to assist with the linebackers, either as a position coach or an assistant to that position coach. Fletcher has a lot of knowledge that has come from years of playing his position at a very high level - I can't see how that would be a bad thing.

But in terms of defensive coordinator, absolutely not! He'd need time to work himself up the ranks.

I wouldn't mind a linebacker coach. But not a DC
