Why don't people give Barry a chance instead of panicking? Belicheck and many others bombed on the first gig as coach or coordinator.

Not panicking -- just not particularly optimistic. As always, I will hope that the naysayers are once again wrong.

This wasn't the best hire but I'm willing to see what happens. Maraneli sure coached up the Dallas defense this year. He was the head coach that year Detroit went 0-16. Did that mean he can't coach. Nope. I'm more concerned about getting better players. It doesn't matter who's coaching, we need better talent. I think the next question is are we going back to the 4-3?

You're right! I mean, just because he had a great interview and worked in Tampa with BA many years ago, the Skins wouldn't hire a journeyman assistant coach who was an abysmal failure in his one attempt at leading a defense without some consistent stellar work in recent years on his resume to counterbalance it. Let's look at Barry's resume as a DC at the pro level in the last five years and compare it some of the other candidates who were mentioned ...

Damn, I can't seem to find it. I know it's around here somewhere. ... Are you hiding it from us Ruhskins? You clever boy!

I'm hiding it, and you're not getting it. LOL.

Hmmm... I think I'm ok with this choice.
I think this guy can start a whole new deal here in Washington.
Other than the Lions thing he has a resume that should have given him a lot of experience and outlook.
I'll certainly take this over Haslett.

There is nothing confirming this on ESPN or other major networks. Might not be the case.

As for dry snitching, a good way to catch an informant is to put information out you know to be false to a specific person and see where it goes.....

Not saying management is that smart, would be nice though. I fully expect Barry is correct.

A note on Barry's Lions tenure (more later, if/when)... of 11 starters on '08 squad, 7 were out of the NFL w/in 2 years, 4 after '08 season

Not sure why Barry is automatically an Allen hire. Worked with Gruden for many years in TB, perhaps left a good impression?

Could come recommended from Jon.

Sooo...of the interviewed candidates:

Wade Phillips
Ed Donatell
Ken Norton Jr
Raheem Morris
Joe Barry

others available: Dick LeBeau, were interested in Fangio, Schwartz was available

They chose Joe Barry? Hey, who knows Berry might be great the second time around as DC but is he more qualified then the other available candidates?

I wanted Haslett gone, but that was the situation here also.
