Fair enough for you.

Personally, finishing in last place every year really bothers me. And since Allen-enabled meddling and incompetence are significantly (not alone, but significantly) to blame for this, I will continue to hold accountable the central cancer Allen.

Hold out both hands in front of you and cup them.
Piss on one hand.
Hold Allen accountable in the other hand.
Which one filled up?

I think it was Ruhskins but someone said we are getting the right people in the right places. I look at Snyder's ownership like a guy playing chess by mail. You make a move, then you have to wait to see what the result of that move is. He has made many wrong moves, and very few right ones, but the fact is, each move takes time to shake out.

Blaming BA because he was out of his depth as a talent evaluator ignores the fact that he came in and set the team on the right path regarding player contracts. Even Shanahan had certain aspects that were good in terms of the long term goal of getting Snyder to understand what his place is and isn't in the scheme of a successful Redskins organization. We, at last, APPEAR, to have an appropriate NFL FO structure.

Personally I think we were moving the right way under Gibbs 2, only to have ST's death set gains on many levels back. It took away JG, it brought Snyder's heart for the players and the team back into the mix, and it somehow brought VC into a more prominent position. We are now beyond that though, and after many many years, I think we are on the brink of the Redskins Rising.

Of course it could all be just another win in the offseason.

Right, because as we know he's always called all the shots in his time here. Shanny had no input.

If you want a scapegoat look a little higher on the food chain. Snyder is the one common denominator for all of our fantastic success.

Despite you wanting to paint him as some power hungry egomaniac, he went and gave the fans what they wanted, a real GM. What an asshole.

Matty, I've said it before, I'll say it again, that is not how I view Allen.

Of course ownership is a problem. That's why we need a team president who will do a better job of mollifying ownership while protecting the football people. Instead, Allen is Snyder's face, his interpersonal lackey, the guy who allows ownership to meddle without having the outward appearance of meddling. Allen completely fails to provide the buffer space the true professionals need to be successful.

I think that we should hold the architect of the RGIII trade accountable. Go figure.

If they give the DC job to Morris then so be it. It wouldn't be my first choice but maybe he's got his own ideas on how things should be run. Are we really going to judge him on the secondary last year when he's working with guys like EJ Biggers and Ryan Clark?

Yes! Yes, we are going to blame him. Other teams had depleted secondaries where backups played well. There were many, many missed assignments by our secondary. They weren't learning. He wasn't getting through to them. Now, somehow, he's promotable? That is a ridiculous and very Snyder-like conclusion.

I ain't got to lie Craig, I'm willing to let Allen have another year of being Danny's lackey. I want to believe hiring Scot Mcshamalamadingdong was a step in the right direction. My problem was never with Bruce Allen, aka the guy who has done a decent job of not handing out bad contracts/prob had something to do with us moving back to Richmond for TC/deserves some credit for restoring bad relationships between Snyder/former 'Skins greats. My problem was with Bruce Allen, guy in charge of the 53. He was long overdue to get out of that role, and to his credit he got us a guy who has a great track record in his last 2 stops in that role. For me, as long as Scot has final say over the 53 (which it appears he does) I am willing to give Bruce some more time. If at this time next year it looks like Bruce has his fingerprints all over another terrible season, let's pull out the pitchforks.

So what does getting rid of Allen accomplish as long as Snyder is still here?? You really think hiring someone to stonewall Snyder is going to work??

Didn't you say it was a pipe dream to think Allen was going to give up control over personnel? Sounded like you were insinuating his reluctance to give up control. Seemed to happen quite easily if you ask me.

No, you don't hire someone to stonewall Snyder, that's impossible and would be bad business. Instead you hire someone who does what capable people in similar positions around the league do every day: diplomatically find ways to keep ownership smiling while providing as much fence as possible (it will never be perfect) protecting the football pros.

This happens every day for some other teams, since they have capable leadership.

Instead we get a mouthpiece and snitch for ownership, a guy who actively is 180 degrees opposite of the buffer he should be.

As for your last sentence, "seemed to" must be the operative words. They said Shanahan had total control over personnel, too, and that proved to be illusory.

Shanny didn't have control? News to me. How much say do you really think Bruce had? Shanahan is the ultimate control freak, his contract was also iron clad as far as his role here. If he allowed his mind to be changed on any decisions that's on him.

People need to get the f*ck over the fact that Snyder owns his team and he'll have some type of influence over everything that happens. People keep calling Bruce Allen a lackey...so what is he supposed to do? Tell Snyder to go f*ck himself all the time?

Maybe I'm an optimist, but it seems like we have something we haven't had in a while in terms of a good money person (BA) and a good talent evaluator (McC). Hopefully between the two of them they can give the Gruden the tools he needs to succeed...and hopefully Gruden can prove he's a good coach.
