How the Redskins defense would look with Wade Phillips as DC : Redskins (http://www.reddit.com/r/Redskins/comments/1vh0bs/how_the_redskins_defense_would_look_with_wade/)

The TL;DR of this is that Wade does everything the exact opposite of Haslett.

Assuming the article's analysis is good:

Will Perry Riley be a starting ILB next year? I want to read into this article that he won't be expected to cover the seam as much. Hopefully he won't be making other teams renegotiate their TE contracts at half time next year.

Robinson blitzes better than Riley though.

Will Henacho be back? Sounds like he might be a decent guy to play the run as mentioned in the article.

Please educate me if I'm assuming wrong.

I could care less about Phillips' HC resume (which isn't exactly terrible at 82-64), his track record as DC is what counts. The guy knows how to run a succesful defense.

That is all I ever wanted, a Defensive Coordinator that has been successful.
That is why I was upset when Skins first hired Haslett and always wanted him gone, he had an average to below average track record and reputation before he got here.
I prefer my Dline to play one gap attack style, not two gap read and react. With the size and strength of offensive lineman in the NFL, it is difficult and physically taxing to play two gap all the time. Our pass rush should improve with out blitzing all the time.
Not sure we should stay so committed to the 3-4 though. Mix it up more.

I didn't see it posted, but we were denied permission to interview Jim Schwartz.

i'd be good with WP. BIG upgrade at DC, but the hire won't fix the existing talent and injury problems we have. hopefully the team puts in more effort to getting a DB that can play and isn't hurt all the time.

I think he's a dynamite D-coordinator but a 4-3 guy. Were we really angling for him or is that just smoke?

Of the guys we've interviewed/will:
(1) Ed Donatell
(2) Wade Phillips
(3) Eric Mangini

Would love Schwartzie but don't know that he's available

Well, now that Rex is going to Buffalo, I wonder if he may be reconsidered. Schwartz is another one of those I wouldn't mind coming here.

Lots of good candidates:

- Wade Phillips
- Mangini
- Ken Norton, Jr.
- Schwartz
- Donatell

While I prefer Phillips for many reasons, I think I would be good with pretty much anyone on the list.
