Because we haven't upgraded at all. The defensive backfield in 2010 were:

Kevin Barnes
Phillip Buchanan
Doughty
D. Hall
Chris Horton
Landry
Kareem Moore
Carlos Rogers
Byron Westbrook

Now we have:

D. Hall
Amerson
Biggers
Breeland
Ducre
Minnifield
Porter
Clark
Meriweather
P. Thomas
Trenton Robinson
Akeem Davis (who?)

Most of these dudes are either rookies or flat out suck. No one other than D. Hall and Breeland are no brainer keepers. Amerson and Thomas could be thrown in. Maybe. Everyone else could easily be replaced.

We haven't upgraded since 2010 just side graded; replaced one dude with someone else of equal skills and upside.

Its his job to coach up the guys and have input to fa/draft picks. Its his job to put them in a position to win. Haslett is clearly a problem, a big one.

Its criminal how dumb our Front office is to fire a HC and not let him chose his staff or at least have a say in it.

This is clearly why our franchise is disfunctional. We do things that other franchise dont and we continue to lose.

Folks there is no defending Snyder and the Front Office. none

I might be wrong but after Gibbs left there was talk about Jim Fassel coming in to coach, but when the FO hired Zorn as the OC the talks diminished.

I think there's still hope for the rookies at being coached up.

But there's no question there are guys here with nearly no upside (Biggers) and dude's who are wasting roster space (Porter) and if Haz had any input on dudes like that I hope the door doesn't hit him in the mangina on the way out.

i think we got a lil too cute for own good and thought if we invest in pass rushers, we can get away with playing man on the outside with less-than-stellar corners and safeties bc Qbs wouldnt have time to allow deep routes to develop.

cooley said in this past offseason Haz's ideal; scheme has always been to have corners who can bump and play man and to have an aggressive pass rush up front.

i think Haz co-signed or even authored this defensive approach of strengthening the pass rush at the expense of not adding secondary help.

its on Haz imo that he cant the pass rush to pressure the QB.

what you wrote gives me hope for this offseason. we should have cap space to add some quality missing pieces with bowen, porter, rak, chester, possibly lauvau and coefield coming off the books.

it appears any future cap space we have been long term saving for RG3's huge extension can now be allocated throughout the roster.

Hoping we go back to 4-3 after Haz is fired. most colleges don't run 3-4 so 4-3 is easier to draft for (if we ever get better scouts)

It was supposed to be Fassel with Zorn as OC. Fassel told Vinny/Danny that he wanted Zorn as his OC.

Turned out that the Zorn deal got done before Fassel. And then Vinny decided he couldn't deal with a powerful presence like Fassel and since Snyder had given him control, Vinny won that battle.

A real shame, to be honest
