I like McCoy 'cuz he's from UT and seems like a good guy, but I feel pretty confident in saying that writing him off as a backup is perfectly reasonable. People point to the big win against Dallas and their amazing defense and the other impressive victory against undefeated Tennessee, but McCoy has 1 passing TD that was all Garcon, a bad interception in the end zone against Dallas, and has led the offense to what... 33 points in almost 7 quarters against two bad defenses? And I'm afraid some people have conveniently forgotten about that sack he took against Dallas that knocked us out of field goal range(see, it's not just RG that does that).

But yeah, if McCoy actually plays well over the next several weeks, I'll be cheering louder than anyone.

Colt McCoy is a known commodity. Gruden has the power he wanted now I get to judge him like he judges RG3. I hope Gruden likes brutal honesty.

I hope so too because when he reads what you have to say......oh boy!

No one thinks McCoy is the savior of this franchise. I think fans and probably the coaches, just want to see the Receivers do more than just run down the field waiving their arms in frustration. And stop seeing RG3 get jack hammered into the turf. And see the Offense score more that 6 or 7 points a game. They aren't putting McCoy in because they think he's the answer for the next 10 years.

He's playing because RG3 couldn't show the capacity to play the QB position at even the most basic level.

Good points on McCoy although he threw a nice deep ball to DJax that would have been a TD if not for PI. He's definitely nothing more than a career journeyman backup who started the year as a third stronger. I think it says more about Robert that he couldn't keep such a mediocre guy on the bench.

Egg-sackly. This is almost still an evaluation on RG-3 imo. If Colt continues to have success than we can stop blaming everyone else.

Unnamed person in this thread: "Everything he's done in Washington so far has shown he can be a starter for this franchise."

And yeah, I agree with your other points. I'm all about letting guys play to develop, but not before they're ready(Griffin isn't). I agree with the decison to start McCoy, I just don't think he's anything other than a serviceable backup that will get us to the offseason on all fours instead of crawling on our belly.

Yep, and Griffin had a perfectly placed bomb against Tampa Bay that Garcon dropped.

This will be the game where we see our real defense show up again... We've played some really crappy offenses the last couple games. The offense will play better, but we'll need more then 30 to have a shot.
