The improvements on defense should help the offense - if the defense keeps us in some games a little better we'll have the luxury of maintaining run/pass balance which would help any QB, whether RG3 or Cousins or McCoy or a rookie.
And I'd hope we come away with at least one new starting offensive lineman from this draft.
Let's see if that helps our QB play and make a decision next year.

IF Jameis falls to 5 which you know and I know isn't going to happen I'd draft him in a heartbeat. Immature yes ! Put someone on him much like Dallas did with Dez. F that, the kid can flat out play !
This should be entertaining when it comes out just before the draft

Not sure where to put this so I am putting it here. It's one of those "Wow ... other teams sometimes suck worse than us!" Unfortunately, for the last 10 years or so, they are the company we keep.
Cleveland has spent a No. 1 draft pick on QB's three times in the last 8 years.
2007 - Brady Quinn
2012 - Brandon Weeden
2014 - Johnny Manziel
The other thing that jumped out about these picks is that each one was the 22nd pick of the first round. Since 1970, the only other two QB's drafted with the 22nd pick were Rex Grossman (2003) and J.P. Losman (2004).
So ... never pick a QB at the 22nd slot and, if your Cleveland, never, ever, ever pick another QB at the 22nd slot.

Its always been my opinion that having a "franchise" QB occurs in 2 stages. (Stage 1) In the early stages of a young QB's career the organization around them needs to be good enough to allow the QB to grow and sometimes even "fail" without the team becoming a dumpster fire. (Stage 2) The QB matures in a stable environment and learns the nuances of being an NFL QB then they become able to cover up for the weaknesses around the team and make them better.
A bad franchise can never get out of stage 1. They just keep swapping the QBs and heaping the blame on the QBs for the franchises failures to develop them.
