Per the WPost:

Gibbs said he does not expect to trade receiver Rod Gardner this weekend and will speak with him Monday to assess his future with the club. Gibbs said he has spoken to Gardner's agent recently, and, despite requesting a trade at the end of the season and being on the trading block for months, Gardner could be back in Washington. He has one year left on his contract and has not been training with the team

Excuse my ignorance but what was the reason he wanted off the team in the first place.

I think this is not a bad thing. Gardner has been productive on and off. With this being a contract year and maybe he thinks he has something to prove... He is our best big WR...

Can we afford the 2 million that he is going to cost us and still sign our draft picks?

Plus we spent a first rounder on him, just doesn't seem worth it to get a fourth for him. Sometimes you have to just eat your s#$t sandwich. I think he COULD be productive next year. Fantasy sleeper probably not.

At least we know what we're getting as opposed to dealing him for a draft pick that we would turn around and use on a WR.
