I don't particularly like thinking about this, but if Gruden benches Griffin(which is likely if he keeps playing poorly) and still doesn't win with McCoy(also likely), I think there's a decent chance he'll be one and done here, unless he sticks with Griffin long enough to convince Snyder that he really is a lost cause.
I also wonder if Gruden makes Snyder uncomfortable with his criticism(both public and private)of Griffin? That might play a part too.
Firing Gruden after one year would be a very stupid move IMO. And I also don't think Griffin is a lost cause. What he needs the most right now is confidence. I think that would take care of a lot of issues(taking the wrong drop, for example) and allow Gruden and Griffin to focus on developing the things that really need to be developed(going through his reads, for example) and aren't just a matter of confidence/not thinking too much. And some stuff like feeling pressure in the pocket just comes with playing time. My two(disjointed and parenthesized) cents...

Gruden's brutal assessment of RG seems accurate to me. Do we let RG keep playing for the rest of this debacle of a season or do we try to win with McCoy now?
^ Win what with McCoy exactly? This season is already lost. It's evaluation time.

I realize that it is important to give Griff every chance we can, but there are other players on the team that might not like losing. Winning is important. It is mentally important to the other players and this Staff to win games. Even if they are "meaningless".
In my heart I want Griff to succeed and pay off for us. It would be the best possible scenario for a handful of reasons. We wouldnt need to adress the QB position being the most important. In my head though I know its over. Sorry. Just how I see it. His mechanics, pocket awareness, and ability to see the field are God awful. If they were just bad than I would reserve hope. Just bad. They are God awful.
I think that winning is much needed for the confidence of this team and coaching staff going forward. It is not an exercise in futility because the games are meaningless. Holding out hope for Griff and more losing probably is though imo.

Snyder has an ego, no doubt, but I really don't think he's dumb.
He watches games, probably even watches tape. He has to be slowly coming to the same realization that most of the rest of us are arriving at.
I agree with the sentiment that you never go into a game to lose....never.
Screw a few draft spots....we'd probably get the 2nd pick and mess it up again anyway!

I was baffled by him too, until I saw him with my own eyes win the Titans game, and the Dallas game. Do you really think, after seeing Griff play, that he could not have made the difference against the Vikings, Bucs, and Niners?

Me and you never agree so for me to say that people or underestimating Colts value and success he can have is a reach. There is a reason he was brought in to Washington and he's looked good for his limited role so far.
RG3 is not done in the NFL but to keep playing him this year while he continues to play worse every week and not better is a mistake. There is nothing wrong with us lickin our wounds from what we paid to get him and have him carry a clipboard till his mechanics recover or get better.
Besides.. him playing worse every week gives us no value if they plan to go that route with him.
I made a prediction in another thread that mcCoy would come in this week and lead us to 4 straight wins doing his best Steve Young impression

I think hell just froze over. Lmao. Completely agree with you, except that I really dont feel confident that Griff will make it in the NFL at this point. However I like the guy and I hope he does.
