Pretty clear cut. This gets back to what my biggest fear has been since 2012. That Griff doesnt have the talent inside him to be the type of qb you need to be in this league to win consistently. Not all great guitar players can learn how to play a violin. Not all great bakers can cook a perfect steak. Not all great painters can sculpt a perfect statue. They can probably do these things better than the average guy but for what we paid, and for what we need that is not good enough. We need him to be great. If we had a killer d, and a killer oline than maybe we could accept average. We do not and we can not.

Im not saying they should have given him a five year contract. Far from it. Of course Gruden has to make his bones.
However to expect him to make a 3-13 team into something we can all be proud of in ten weeks with one draft where we didnt even have a first round pick with THREE different qb's starting in such a short time and the most horrible DC in the league(that he had nothing to do with is ludicrous!
Edit: I agree with Matty that he has not shown enough even under these circumstances but the circumstances outweigh his lack of show imo.

What you say makes sense and I'm trying to not pick on Jay Gruden who was handed a huge task and who does need at least two years before he can be fairly evaluated.

My problem is that I don't have any confidence in the entire cast of characters from Tampa Bay who are now running this club - none of them, from Bruce Allen on down. For goodness sakes, they even hired Doug Williams for some inexplicable reason. If Snyder was going to hire a bunch of people from one organization, then he should have at least picked a good organization.

Unless the Skins show significant improvement by the end of next year, I would like to see the entire Tampa Bay fraternity gone. And if the rest of them go, then poor Jay may have to go with his fraternity brothers, whether that's fair or not.

Agree 1000%. Allen sucks. Probably should have mentioned him as yet another problem a first year HC has to deal with.

The problem with your analogy is that RGIII has all of the skills to "learn the violin," so the problem is not talent.

What holds back RGIII is in his head.

FWIW a while back ago the Chiefs hired a people from the Pats and that didn't work out well.

A great guitar player has talent. - talent to be just that - a great guitar player. Doesnt mean he can take that talent and apply it to a violin.
Griff is a great spread offense/ read option type qb. Doesnt mean he can apply that to a pro style offense. If he could dont you think we would be seeing an inkling of that?
He can tell him self that he can do it all he wants. I need to see it to believe it.

He may have the skills to learn it, but can he do it at a concert or in front of a live crowd? That's the issue. He may look ok at practice when he knows he's not going to get hit. But game time, he can't process everything at game speed. The NFL passing game seems to fast for him.
