Lets talk about what happens when Griffin succeed and utilizes the both his legs and arm to create wins for the Redskins. Who will be the first to eat crow?

I have certainly said that I do not think Griff will be the future star that we all thought we had in 2012. I will gladly eat every last feather if he proves me wrong.

So if it comes down to Griffin or Gruden, who would stay? Let's say Gruden wants to move on from Griffin, either because of the injury risk or because he eventually decides Griffin will never amount to much, and Snyder and Allen have to make the choice to either fire the new coach or cut the QB they've invested so much in...

Right now, Gruden and Griffin both need to have an opportunity to prove themselves.

I honestly don't think they'd choose Griffin if he was clearly not improving after next year, but, for there to be any argument right now as to whether or not to let Robert play and try to develop is crazy. Also, they don't necessarily need to let either go. If Griffin isn't performing by the end of the year, I think Gruden would be justified in bringing in some competition, and all signs point to this being the plan.

If there is tension / disagreement going on right now though, I think I'd put the blame on Gruden (unless there is something Griffin is doing that we don't know about that has caused Gruden to be soured on him). I mean, has he really given Griffin a legitimate chance to prove himself yet? No, so if he is undermining everyone because he wants a different QB, then he might have to go.

I tend to believe that he is just being straight forward and realistic about the development of his QB's. He thought Cousins was farther along, and he thinks Griffin has a lot to learn, and he will see how things play out. I haven't heard anything that makes me believe that Danny or Bruce have any issue with the way he's handling the situation except that maybe they told him that he has to play Griffin right now, which leads me to believe that it is more likely that they are on the same page then it is that they are at odds.

Not saying the front office would think this way, but if I'm in the front office, I have to think of the investment in Griffin already being paid and used. The best time to get rid of Griffin would be before his rookie contract is up. By that point, Griffin is either the franchise quarterback this team has needed, or he's not. I don't think you can blame Gruden either way. Gruden didn't ask for Griffin nor Cousins. I think you allow Gruden the opportunity to go out and find "his guy" in terms of quarterback and see who's best for the position.

I tried to ask SS his opinion on this same thing the other day.

I don't remember that, but Gruden has yet to prove anything to Snyder. Right now, Griffin is in the driver's seat if choosing one or the other

Thanks...it was after you had enlightened me on about a dozen previous questions...i just figured you might have other things to do. Lol.
As I ponder the question there are two basic scenarios:
1) Griffin plays well the rest of the year and both Gruden and Snyder are thrilled.
2) Griffin does not play well the rest of the year. Than what? Does Snyder just give him another offseason to "get it"? Is he still in the driver seat in other words?
There is always the injury scenario but we will leave that alone.

With the investment we have in him, RGIII will absolutely get another offseason to "get it." Should he? Probably not, but, barring injury, he's firmly in place through next year. After that, I think all bets are off.

I know that sounds like he's on a very long leash, and he is, but remember what the organization gave uo for him. Right or wrong, the front office will not write that off until 2015 is over. My opinion, and if SS thinks otherwise, I'll jump ship with him immediately...

I have no idea how long the leash is, but I would have to guess that its length is directly proportional to how well he plays the rest of this season. Show some promise, even if there are hiccups, and then it's pretty long. Have a Dalton-esque performace or two (or get injured again, even if the injury isn't season-ending), I suspect it is fairly short. Personally, I would love to see him light it up and shut up all detractors once and for all.
