Y'all are cray. And harsh. Resigning Orakpo to a cheap deal makes sense. Nobody will overpay anf he'll work hard for another contract. Too easy.

This is going to turn out just like Carlos Rogers. Rotten1980 10-20-2014, 01:28 AM Rak isn't going to sign for a cheap deal. He was wanting in the area of 13mil/yr this off-season. He could make a great value player finally. mlmdub130 10-20-2014, 07:22 AM Rak isn't going to sign for a cheap deal. He was wanting in the area of 13mil/yr this off-season. This is going to turn out just like Carlos Rogers. He doesn't want to sign for a cheap deal, just like he didn't want to get the franchise tag. IMO if he indeed tore another pec there is no chance he gets any sort of long term deal. He is setting him self up for another one year prove it deal, thankfully it won't be here. irish 10-20-2014, 07:40 AM What Orakpo think of himself as a player and what he is worth is IMO waaaay different than what it is in reality. kct1975 10-20-2014, 07:52 AM What Orakpo think of himself as a player and what he is worth is IMO waaaay different than what it is in reality. Absolutely! Skinzman 10-20-2014, 07:53 AM good luck to that team that runs this magical 4-3 he fits better into. he has never played DE in 4-3 in the NFL....he sucks at keeping contain as a OLB so wouldn't be much better in the 4-3 and also is not that great tackling. He actually has played DE in a 4-3 in the NFL, his rookie year with us. And that was his best year so far. He doesnt need magic, just needs his hand on the ground with no pass coverage responsibilities. He is much quicker off the ball when his hand was on the ground and that set up his speed rush better. The speed rush being better set up his bull rush. When he rushes from a 3-4 OLB stand up position, he is no where near as good as a pass rusher than he has shown when he is in a 3 point stance. Its not happening here, but I do think he will have more success as a 4-3 DE than he does as a 3-4 OLB who spends a fair amount of time in pass coverage. We just keep shoving the square peg in a round hole and blaming the player for it not working out. Alvin Walton 10-20-2014, 08:07 AM Maybe. Hard to see another franchise paying based his performance so far. He could make a great value player finally. Why would you want him? He doesnt do anything but play Patty cake with he guy thats blocking him. whistler 10-20-2014, 08:12 AM Yea he needed to stay healthy to keep that stock up. We always hold players a season too long, we should have let him walk this year. Exactly! They should never have given him anywhere near 11 mil. As I said before he's not a franchise player. He's done here. JoeRedskin 10-20-2014, 11:02 AM Haven't read the entire thread so I apologize for redundancy. Orakpo is a good player to have on the team. He is not a franchise player. He has simply not been a play maker elite or otherwise. I would like to have him back for a reasonable price BUT I don't think he takes a reasonable price. Someone will overpay him. Personally, I think his "market value" as a UFA will be well above his value to us. At the same time, I will be sorry to see him go - if only b/c it creates a whole that needs to be filled and will likely be filled by a downgrade. I think retaining him this year was not a horrible decision, it gave T.Murphy some time to develop. Hopefully, Murphy can step in and play. He doesn't have the raw talent of Rak but then Rak never seemed to play up to his talent. If Rak comes back, great - so long as he realizes, he is not and never will be an elite player. Otherwise, it's probably best for both sides to move on. |
