We Redskin fans tend to have a negative view towards Gardner, but actually he is a decent, but average NFL WR. Yes his drops have been frustrating as hell, but his stats are really no worse than the majority of #2 receivers in the league. That is why he has trade value, and why it is mid-round value, not top, and not bottom....i.e. average.
I agree with your evaluation SkinsRock, but as I recall, he wasn't drafted to be a #2 receiver, or at least not as I understood it. All the hoopla surrounding his selection on draft day, I thought he was going to be the second coming of Art Monk (who should be a HOFer) and he's panned out to be more like a second coming of Ricky Sanders

I still think that Gardner has the ability to be a #1 WR or atleast a good #2. I feel he needs a good WR coach to work on his focus and rout running. I have seen him make some impossible grabs then turn around and drop three easy catches. It's all in his focus and if a coach could get him to rededicate himself he could be that receiver we all hoped he would be. I like Gardner as a team player its just a shame he did not give us what we expected. I think we will find out this year if a fresh start with a new team is what he need to emerge as that player.

Both Albert Connell and Michael Westbrook were also tabbed as the second coming of Art Monk...and look where they are now? Gardner has shown he can compete in this league, and trading him for something less than what the Redskins are looking for would be a huge loss.

I think I read somewhere we could trade him to seattle for Koren Robinson. But don't quote me
As for his ability, Gardner is very good but like Ramsey has loss confidence because of being bumped down in the depth chart

I know I post this website a lot, but the new blog has a good opinion of the whole draft thing.

I'm was thinking in context to his overall performance since Coles joined the team
He did do well in the Cowboy game, when they went long, so u may be right

Gardner say's he wants out and then holds up the trades with contract demands, I would just sit him on the bench for the year and let him think about his value after he misses the entire year sitting instead of playing, that should motivate him.

I actually heard rumors of J.Taylor as part of the trade for our 9th, 25th, & Gardner. We would get the 2nd pick & Taylor. The reason for this is the belief that Taylor will not fit the 3-4 Defensive system that Saban wants to run. Also dumping the salary helps to sign multiple draft picks. With that said it could still be a far fetched rumor with no basis in fact. Would be nice though.
